Back, yes, but why was it gone? Can't cope with this shock to the system.

I was beginning to get FT withdrawal symptoms.

I am glad it's back

Can anyone shed any light on what has been happening lately to have FT disabled so often ???

If I were betting....I think we will be asked to get out Visa/MC/Diners/AMEX and help cover the cost of FT....????

Before I go any further I DO realize that FT is free to users like me. That being said, I still find it disappointing/troubling/frustrating that there have been TWO major outages in two consecutive weekends.

I, too, realize that FlyerTalk is free to us, and I am very grateful for this wonderful service. However, from what Randy had said, the first outage occurred because of a processor change. In all fairness, why was no one on the boards here forwarned that this would happen? I thought FT went down for some hardware or network failure reason. I feel that when the FT people will know that FT will be down, I think it would not be hard, as a courtesy, to post a thread or announcement a day or two in advance. Just to let its users (free or otherwise) know. Just my opinion.

One good thing about living on Guam or in the CNMI is developing an ability to cope with frequent power outages. Every village on Guam still does not have water, either, since Typhoon Chata'an (same link as page 1) hit on 5 July.

Loss of FT is no less significant for some of us than power or water, and certainly more so than cable television! As Randy mentioned above--seventh post on page 2--it was for a good cause, and pre-announced (although people like me didn't know where to find it in advance). That's life.

Keep up the good work, Randy! The other bulletin board frequented by OzStamps is too exclusive to admit riff-raff like me, anyway. (!)

Now if there could be any way for posters to edit the thread titles!

SPN Lifer .. yes, living in your region, a less than 24 hour BB outage is not a major issue I can bet compared to what Mother Nature can inflict. We can readily lose lose track of priorities sometimes living in large cities. I have visted Saipan and Guam and FSM about 20 times, and do hope the essential services are back soon in your pretty part of the world. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

As an aside I do not think using ANY of travel BB's has an exclusivety issue ... I do not think anyone inferred that? All have quite different user niches, and I am sure you would have a lot to gain and to contribute to any of them. Flyertalk remains of course the largest and most comprehensive site by several light years. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

It is always good to see this site come back. It is extremely valuable for the flier, whom wants to be informed and experience more organized and efficient travel.
