*****I know someone who left France without paying the electric bill because the company wouldn't send a final bill on time. Is France such a police state that he will be detained upon re-entry into France? This is a serious question, unlike the ff question earlier in this post.

Not paying a bill is a civil - not a criminal case - so nothing to do with French authorities. He won't be stopped.

But lets also remember that we are talking about France. I have stopped trying to figure them out. To be safe, why not have 'your friend' (yes, Mr. Freud) contact the French Utility and arrange to pay the bill. This way the issue becomes moot. It is after all the ethical and moral thing to do irrespective ot whether or not they would not send the final bill 'on time.'

Be blessed! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
