What credit is received for Multiple seats on same flight?
I know it is possible to book multiple seats on the same flight (for extra cargo on the plane or extra room or whatever..)
If you book 2 seats both with your name and frequent flyer number, what type of credit do you get? Just the normal EQM/EQS or does the flight post twice? or? |
Nothing :(.

Butt in the Seat not Butt in the Seats YMMV:D |
".. so even if.." - Correct.
OTOH, in these threads, you'll find stories about musicians & such who travel with items that get their own seats, and have separate FF#s, and earn miles and status. And provide award tickets for their owners. :D I don't imagine "Mr. Left Cheek" and "Mr. Right Cheek" quite qualifies, tho. Happy Reading. - |
The FMINYC knows a lot about this because I often buy more than one ticket as a courtesy to others on flights I know are packed and I have little chance of getting an upgrade.
On CO, you will not get credit for both seats. However, if you have one tix under CO FF# and one under NWA FF#, you will more often than not get credit from each. YMMV |
:-: :-: :-: :-: :-:
FMINYC ~ that suggestion, sir, is farking GENIUS !!! ^ /. |

Last year german newspaper "Die Welt" wrote that in those cases Lufthansa credits the passenger with the appropriate amount of miles of the purchased second ticket.
Charter Carrier LTU credits 50% of miles as extra bonus (no status) for the second seat ! No clue about the US carriers... |
Sometimes I buy two seats on CO from EWR-PEK/HKG..As stated I never received the miles for the "other" seat..I recently set up a new OP account with my name, with EXTRA SEAT after it..
I haven't used it yet, does anyone think I will be able to get credit for the extra seat? Thanks |
Has anyone contacted the airlines to see if they would give you credit for the 2nd seat? Seems to me that if you book 2 tickets they should give you mileage for both tickets. I know...I know...it seems logical and 99% of the time logic does not apply. :)

Perhaps different FF#s?
I would think there should be a way to get credit for both seats. Otherwise, suppose Billy Bob and his son Billy Bob Jr. flew on a flight together. They both have identical names, perhaps even identical addresses, but each should get credit.

Awhile ago when I had a special brace on my knee, I had to make sure that I had an empty seat next to me so I had purchased two tickets.
United gave me only miles for the dupleganger, no bonus miles, no extra segments. |
There was a discussion some time ago on Delta board. Per Delta policy one gets the miles for both seats, but not automatically, and it's not clear whether EQMs are also received.
