2500 Miles for Inside Flyer Subscription

This makes me a little displeased. I signed up for a subscription in December, and only received my 1st issue LAST WEEK...it was the January issue. I'd say, a bit outdated.

There's no mention of anything about CO or Starwood points for current subscribers is there? I feel kind of ripped off.

I got notification of this bonus as an e-mail to the account I use to register on FlyerTalk.

Since Randy has repeatedly stated the best way for us to support FlyerTalk is to subscribe to InsideFlyer, I figured I'll do it.

To be honest, the fact that 2,500 Starwood points were offered as a bonus did factor into the decision. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

The 2,500 Starwood points were what caused me to finally subscribe. I've been wanting to support FlyerTalk this caused me to act.

AirBus330, FWIW Randy has stated in the Starwood thread that this offer is open to current subscribers who wish to renew their subscriptions.

Also, an offer for 2,000 US miles has been added.

Speaking of Inside Flyer, I called to find out how many issues I have left for my current subscription. Although it's been at least one year, I was told they have not been "deducting" every month, presumably due to 9/11 and other problems. So even though the magazine has been arriving late, we've been getting several freebies.

I suppose when I think about it, the magazine is the main source of funding for FT and thus, I shouldn't complain (though it would be nice to get CO or Starwood miles for current subscriptions)!

Maybe this is just a good time for us to all pitch in and subscribe.

0521 - my advice is to take the Starwood points deal instead. Then transfer 20,000 points to Continental. Starwood gives a 5,000 point bonus for every 20,000 points transferred to Continental.

essentially $60 = 3125 miles this way.

I thought of subscribing briefly, until I noticed the offer for Canadians is only 6 issues vs. the 12 for U.S. subscribers. It may cost a little more for postage, but 100% more?

Hmmmm. The offer seems a bit unclear here. Not unlike some of UA's stuff which appears to treat Cananda as a domestic destination. See the fine print below:

Fine Print: Because of the generous bonus points offer, this offer is non-refundable. Offer is available to Starwood Preferred Guest members worldwide. Members living outside of the U.S. and Canada will only receive InsideFlyer on a bi-monthly basis (6 issues) with our international program news enhanced editions.

I interpret this to mean that if you live in either the U.S. OR Canada you get the full 12 issues.

$60 is a modest sum to pay to support FT. I’m in.

I also decided it was time to subscribe, I've been meaning to do so for a long time anyway.

I've certainly gotten more than $60 worth of information from Flyertalk over the last 2 years.

From the *woods site:

"With American Airlines, you can transfer up to 99,999 StarpointsSM into AAdvantage® Miles at a 1-to-1 ratio. And for every 20,000 Starpoints transferred you'll earn 5,000 bonus Starpoints, which will be automatically added to your transfer."

I assume that this means one can transfer 99,999 *points per transfer but that there are no limits on the number of transfers that can be made. Is this correct?
