It's probably easier to get into the Freddies than to get a ticket to the Academy Awards (where we can see our Meg and our Michelle in their best finery!)
The Freddies are presented in the end of January, last few years in NYC. What I would do is after the first of the year write Inside Flyer and mention that you are a subscriber and contributor to FlyerTalk. They are very nice and will add your name to the list. I've had the pleasure of meeting NJDavid and Boomer there. There were a few subscribers there too, did not meet them. I'm already looking forward to going to the Freddies in 2000, if they will have me come back!!! FYI: now I know who belongs to those fish bone covered choppers at the other side of the room!!! BLEH!!! CATMAN |
To Catman, NJDavid, Boomer, Beckles and all the other very much appreciated contributors to FlyerTalk - just an FYI; this was the second year that there has been an official Freddie Awards ceremony and in previous years the Freddie Award winners were notified if they had won a particular award and RP would personally deliver the trophies to the winners. However this year RP decided to create a little more suspense and drama, if you will, and NOT TELL anyone that they had won period. We were all under strict orders not to let it leak out to anyone. It was actually a nice twist to these awards, especially since there were some changes with who frequent flyers voted for. (And remember, as far as these folks getting to NYC at the last minute, most all of them were sent an invitation to the Freddie Awards ceremony well in advance and even if they had short notice they're all "friends" in the business and can, and do help each other out for last minute travel plans). As for the top three and/or "bottom" three, another reminder is that the Freddie Awards are based on value voting and gives a much clearer view of what the voters really feel. If you want more info on value voting check out our 11th Annual Freddie article in this months InsideFlyer. Again, a very sincere thank you to all from all of us!! Catman, I'm glad you liked your gift (I wrapped it)!

OMNI for flygirl: Meant to write this before
(distracted by answering posts and tyring to put new information on here and fending off JAWS!) but you wrapped the gift very very well. It's beautiful, I've saved the paper and bow (keep a journal of great things in my life, like attending the Freddies!) My wrapped gifts look like Teletubbies! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Again Randy, Karen, Flygirl, Bryan and everyone at INside Flyer... thank youf for that special token of your friendship. It's nice to feel welcome by you... and by everyone here on FlyerTalk. The mug sits on the shelve above my computer. I'll wear teh shirt to LONDON and other important travel related trips like the Party in Paradise! Thank you again! CATMAN |
