I'm ssoooo jealous too! Well reported FlyerTalkers and thanx...

Back to my last day working for someone else

Catman Jan 29, 1999 1:11 pm

That's an interesting point, Boomer. INteresting to me that last year's big winners, Marriott and Continental repeated
this year. (And I agree, someone must have told Greg or why wouldn't the customer service woman represent C-O and accept for Continental.)

But some companies want the glory. At my place, the executives, major bosses and top producers go to thw award ceremonies... even thought the winner is a hard working but lowly camera-perosn. They all have to go up and say something (like at the OSCARS!)

OMNI: WHEN I win my OSCAR, I accept SOLO!

I'm sorry I confused you JAWS. Check the picture again and see if the change I made helps.

Catman Jan 29, 1999 2:26 pm

VERY OMNI BECAUSE I CAN... Just for U JAWS!

Thanks for the added chryon NJDavid. I pay a little extra money to make my FULL head of hair bright soft and full. (It's the way to tell me and Mark McGwire apart!)

Maybe I should get JAWS a pair of glasses from Target. They have a nice selection of frames next to the 8 bars of soap for 2 dollars!

Or my local Duane Reade or CVS or Rite Aid.
I'll get DOUBLE MEMBERSHIP REWARDS from AMEX for JAWS' Glasses! CATMAN

JAWS_II Jan 29, 1999 2:38 pm

Oh yes, Catman & NJD, I knew who it was. The head still shines. We need to retouch that photo! And, Catdude, you still didn't answer my other question. And, I do not need glasses to be "Blinded by the Light".

Catman Jan 29, 1999 2:47 pm

What I thought I heard was that a representative of Virgin Atlantic was there.

I assumed that so many of the airlines were there that Virgin would have someone there.

I checked the seating chart and did not see a Virgin *REPRESENTATIVE* listed!!

NAUGHTY NAUGHTY JAWS!!! I SHOULD CHALLENGE YOU TO A DEBATE AT THE PARTY IN PARADISE
IN NOVEMBER!!! THE FUNNIEST GUY GETS TREATED TO MAI TAIS AND OTHER DRINKS FOR A DAY!!!

OK - You two have inspired me....now look at the FREDDIES.HTM photo page.

Boomer Jan 29, 1999 3:15 pm

My seating chart had the Virgin(airlines representative) seated at Table 12.

Looking at the value totals for the airlines, I noticed that the same airlines(co,twa, sw) were in the top 3 in every category and the same airlines(delta, ua, nw) were the bottom 3 in just about every category. So did most people just vote across the board good or bad rather then splitting tickets. It makes it seem like 3 airlines did everything right and 3 did nothing right. A bit difficult to buy. I know that there was hostility towards Delta over the L fares, and Northwest seemed to get trashed in every category. Considering that they went the extra mile for worldperks members during the strike, I'm a little surprised. Also, the bottom 3 got trashed in the affinity card voting. Could there be that much a difference in cards between airlines? Here's the affinity card numbers, judge for yourself(with rounding to 2 decimal places)

Diners: 9.36
Continental: 9.02
Amex: 8.87
Marriott: 8.84
AA: 8.67
US Air: 8.65
Hilton: 8.64
Delta: 8.51
United: 8.40
Northwest: 8.11

I begining to think that looking at how many freddies someone won is meaningless. It seems that people vote "the party line" and
its a sort of winner take all vote.

Catman Jan 29, 1999 3:32 pm

My votes compared to where the ones I voted for finished in some of the Freddie catagories varied dramatically. I guess with more than 82-thousand voters there are 82-thousand opinions... with a few (Continental, Marriott, hilton) rising just that extra bit to win.

The Freddies are a nice barometer of whta the travel public is thinking. But I think Randy said ultimately it's what each one of us decides are the best programs (I like U-A and will probably stick with U-A. The hotels have been on line with my views... although I'm going to take a closer look at Hyatt.)

As for SOuthwest... they must be doing something right. I have to give them a try
(to only have something to talk about.)

OMNI to JAWS: We BOTH need new glasses. I was right about the Virgin person being at teh Freddies but missed it on the seating chart. I don't know if the Virgin was male or Female but I wish I took a chance ot introduce myself. CATMAN

Be careful, Catman - you wouldn't want to fraternize with the enemy, particularly as you shall soon be visiting Merry Flyer...

Catman Jan 29, 1999 6:16 pm

I was careful about that. I wouldn't want
Merry to find any Sir Richard buttons on me.

I'm still loyal to British and Lufthansa. Flying U-A for the miles and to avoid C-O (which is what the company really wanted.) But I'm anxious to try out Arrivals by United!

Now that I've gotten off topic... I'll move on... CATMAN

Catman ~ Hyatt rules! I've been saying it and saying it, maybe know those who don't believe will listen!

You will not believe how fast the free nights rack up in the Hyatt program with all the promotions and bonuses they have!

JAWS_II Jan 30, 1999 10:05 am

Catman, I was at table 12, so watch out!

MileageAddict Jan 31, 1999 11:09 pm
