My Miletracker Accounts are Gone!

Just checked my Miletracker accts and they are gone! Get a screen saying

" No users and/or accounts have been added.

Click the "Setup / edit users & accounts" tab above in order to add them."

I can't believe this has happened. Anyone else experience this?

Not I. Sorry....

Same thing happened to me lately. Luckily, I am using the DataProtector, so I could retrieve a recent data file from the miletracker directory. No idea how this happened.

Hmmm. Mine seem ok today. What is/are the file(s) named?

It's happened to me twice in the last month or so.

I learned my lesson after that, to use the "Save Settings" option weekly.

It's a useful program when it works.

I use both MileTracker and MilePort. Both are working fine for me.

bnatraveler Oct 18, 2006 5:16 pm

wow thanks for the heads up.

Had no idea that there even was a back-up feature on Miletracker. Ctrl+B. Thanks!

I have tried to install MilePort but in that process Pest Patrol pops up and tells me to quarantine or delete it, identifying it in one word as "Iambigbrother" which I believe to be a trojan. Is there any other program that I might use or does anyone have any suggestions? How about AwardWallet.com?

Miletracker...no problemo

All I can say is I run Miletracker every morning without fail, have multiple accounts (5) with 10-20 programs for each, and have never had my accounts "disappear". Occasionally a few don't work, but they eventually get fixed. For the price, free, great program.

Thanks for posting this ... back-up, Ctrl+B, works fine, also with Miles&Points, the German version.

Actually, I lost some accounts (Lufthansa and some others) with Miletracker some time ago. I did not loose any with Miles&Points .. both programs are almost identical.

This has happened to me a couple of time when miletracker installs an upgrade. And then the new file will overwrite your backup and you lose everything.

Good practice is to save miletracker info on a separate jump drive or CD, just in case, so you can install the backup if the original gets overwritten.

Thanks for the heads up as this hasn't happened for a couple of years now.

Here is the reply that I received from Miletracker.

Hi settojet,

Thank you for letting us know about the "Iambigbrother" trojan detected by
PestPatrol. We have NO spyware or adware associated with any of our
applications. We do have an ad tracking system that lets us know when users
click on an ad, but we do not follow their actions beyond that. We have
received other reports of Iambigbrother and just recently we figured out why
spyware detectors report spyware in our applications.

Our current installer is through ClickTeam and according to their online
forums, they have had issues with spyware companies detecting the installer
as Iambigbrother. It is not Iambigbrother, but spyware programs think it
is. So, it is simply a false positive.

To avoid this problem in the future, we are implementing a new installer.
This should prevent false positives from spyware detectors. I apologize for
the confusion, but I am glad you contacted us for more information. I can
assure you that there is no adware, spyware, or any other Trojans in any of
our applications.

Thanks again for reporting this and for your support. Please let me know if
you have additional questions or concerns.

I think I will wait until they implement the new installer.
