No More HHonors Update Points???
 

Was just on the frequentflyer.com website, where someone has just posted that on her latest HHonors statement, there is a notice that there will be no more points awarded for HHonors profile updates after March 31. Has anyone else heard or read of this on their latest HHonors statements?? Hope this isn't the case, as I thought in the HHonors chat on here Hilton didn't mind us doing the updates each quarter. Haven't gotten my statement as yet, so I can't verify this info.

I noticed the same notice on my HHonors statement, which arrived yesterday. It does list an end date of March 31, 2002, however, since that is the date of the end of the first quarter, I'm wondering if it has more to do with the end of Q1 then the end of the 1,000 bonus offer per quarter.

It's really not a shock since it was so abused, with us just getting points without updating anything. 1000 points was like spending $100 with them.

1000 points is worth about $10 to the consumer and considerably less to Hilton.

Hilton withdraws its bonus for online activity in the same quarter that Southwest adds a similar bonus (0.5 point per quarter for giving up paper statements and checking your activity online)...

Guys why is there so much paranoia on these foums? I have the latest Honors statement and there is no mention of the end to the quarterly update just a reminder to do the updates as it is a valuable tool for Hilton to have all of our updated info to ensure that our stays are as comfortable and rewarding as possible. They list March 31st as the date because that is the end date of the quarter. The education I have recieved on this forum has been tremedously beneficial but I just wish people would be more careful with their posts and read the info carefuly and verify this info before posting.

Called HHonors this morning, and spoke to a very helpful, friendly CSR. She checked for me re: my question of the HHonors profile update points stopping after March 31. She said she spoke to several people there and came back on the line to say that HHonors had been considering discontinuing the profile update after the end of March, but had re-considered, and decided to keep the program at least until the end of 2002.
Guess it depends who you speak to there, 10 different CSR's may give 10 different answers, so we'll have to wait and see.
In the meantime, remember to update your profile when you can.

Do you really believe it was so abused.. so what if a bunch of FTers got the most out of it, we are such a small % of the Hhonors population that we don't register a blip on their radar screen when it comes to this, Hh would rather have a bunch of current email addresses etc to sell to a third party than care about the 2000 pts or so that they give out to a small number of people who do what we do.

And you would get approximately $100 worth of lodging for your $100.

What lodging is "worth" and how much it costs Hilton to provide are two entirely different things. If you spend $100 with Hilton to rent a room, the incremental cost to Hilton to rent you that room is way less than $100. Even the allocated cost for use of the room (allocating overhead against all rooms rented) should be way less than $100.

So, for the 1,000 HHonors points Hilton gives you for paying $100 toward renting the room, Hilton derives profit that (ought to) well outweigh the cost to them of redeeming that 1,000 points.

I was just trying to correct the point that cordelli seemed to be making - that 1000 points are worth anything approaching $100.
