Time to ask again: What is your important elite perks?
Here are mine in order:
1) Elite line (I can't even begin to imagine what it's like these days in those looong long bag check lines. This alone is reason to reach even the first-tier status level). 2) Upgrade opportunities 3) Bonus miles 4) Elite reservations. (At times I have to call the "other airline" on their regular number. I am amazed at how long the waits are. Of all airlines, I do find that DL agents are the best on the phone, etite or non-elite). |

Yes, upgrades are the most important, but I find that some of the nicest "perks" are being treated like a "human" by the CSRs, FAs, RCC people.
The little things like smiles, having people thank you for flying UAL, etc, are some of the greatest. Also, knowing that if my flight is cancelled, that the CSR in the RCC will wait list me on a couple of different flights to make sure I get on my way! |

My elite 'world' is changing as I fall out of top tier, but the list is still the same
1) Elite line ... the time I've saved just by this benefit is at least 50-60 hours, not to mention the frustration of being 40 deep... 2) Bonus Miles ... cause I'm trying to get to Lifetime Gold on AA and these count towards it 3) Upgrades ... This used to be #1 but as I get used to being mid-teir, flying less and going back to sitting in coach, I just play it cool, get seats in the back or exit row, and usuaully am able to finagle am empty seat next to me. I'm then fine in coach too. |
since I fly Air Canada, i'd consider the following the best "perks" of my Elite status:
1. Oxygen on AC metal is free 2. Extra attitude from customer service (we're not happy until you're not happy!) 3. Being able to pay lowest fare without having to worry about whether AC has ripped me off $600 for a chance at upgrading (no lottery for me, thanks!) 4. Not having to worry about miles anymore since I earn more points renting a car than flying across the country 5. being treated like a real *Gold customer when i'm not flying AC! But then again, I wouldn't know. Air Canada's communications policy is to NOT tell the customer what they have planned! |

Yes the dedicated check in lines are nice (I'm only a lowly UA Premier but it helps) and even the lame UA airport waitlist policy has helped me at LAX in the middle of a horrendous rainstorm in getting on a flight before some obnoxious Angelenos. But what I tell friends in advising them to qualify for elite is "at Premier they start treating you like a human being, anything below that and you're cattle, anything above and they start acting really nice" :-)
