No FF#...I can't beleive it

I was just making a reservation for my wife and my sister-in-law.

I could not beleive it when she told me she did not have a FF#!!!!!

I almost couldn't make the reservation without filling out the magical box.

I felt sad for her.

I was booking for my fiancee (damn, scary calling her that now) recently and she didn't have an FF number to use on Star Alliance. She told me to do whatever, so I looked for a referral bonus, signed her up for UA, signed her up for all the promos, and then bought the ticket for her.

That said, I'm not sure that I'd go to as much trouble for an in-law either.. :p

peace,
~Ben~

Why not sign up others? They can at least get 1-2 magazine subscriptions on many airlines.

I did that for someone. They got a magazine and they let me subscribe to one, too.

Why not put your own number in and see what happens!!

Whenever I flew with my sister, and she didn't have a FF# for that airline, I signed her up. She has some orphaned miles, but sometimes xfers them to me. Some of those accounts added up to near 25000, so the balance needed were made via shopping partners or idine.

Even small amounts add up. Why not just sign them up?

I signed up my parents in law and they let me do whatever I want with their points (they rarely travel so they don't have many points).

Haha.. my mom's travel plans are in my hands.. I never let her book a flight.. ever... :D

Yes I see what you mean. I've been doing a lot of flight bookings to fly my girlfriend to either my home city or to whatever city I'm in currently for business. At first I was continually surprised that she didn't have FF numbers for various things. But as I went along, I just created a file and add them as I set them up for her. Oh well :)

oh no.... someone normal doesn't have a FF#. Oh my. The world is going to end!

get a life foks... not everyone needs or wants a FF#.

I don't see the big deal with it. If you're getting something extra for doing what you have to do, why not? Takes a couple of minutes to setup a FF#.

If you think the world will end, how about transferring your points over to us?

Was this their first flight? If it was I wouldn't feel so sad for her.

Before the world ends, please send some of your FF miles my way! :D You won't need them!

Once I sat next to a guy who flew monthly. He had never heard of FF. I told him to ring the FA for an application.

big V Dec 7, 2005 9:10 pm

Oy. Just booked Mr. Big V for a flight to TPA next week.

He wanted a direct flight. And actually chose SW over equally cheap, more lucratively-routed :D itins.

He just gave me his new Capital One miles card. When I inquired "for what airline?" he looked at it, turned it over, and said, "Uhhhh, I dunno....Continental, maybe?"

After all the work I do, and a mere 24 hours after my 6-segment MR for elite status, this is what he says! *sigh*

Ah well. We look at them and think they're weird, they look at us and think we're weird, so I guess it's all about perspective...

cheers,
Big V
