I even have many of the old Frequent Flyer "Flight Cards" from several airlines that you used to have to fill out with your name, FF account number, date, flight numbers, from/to airport codes...that you had to attach to every single flight segment coupon you used.</font>
I still use a variant of those... for Xiamen Airlines' MF Egret Mileage Plus (shades of United) and China Southern's Sky Pearl FF Clubs. They each mail a batch of about 20 FF-number barcoded stickers at a time, which you have to stick onto the ticket at check-in.

So... as an accountant do you think boarding passes are required for the IRS paper trail, or are the receipts sufficient? :-)</font>
The way I see it, the receipts are the most proper support for any expense deduction. Boarding passes might could be used in the absence of receipts, but that might get challenged. What is to prevent a double deduction by an unscrupulous tax payer if they could use both receipts and boarding passes?

The caveat to all this is that I have never personally addressed this with the IRS. As we all know, only two-thirds of IRS can be found in REASONABLE!!!
