Best Long Distance Program
 

Hello,

I am currently using Sprint for my Long Distance. I am looking to change very, very soon. Can anybody give me any tips on which Long Distance providers offer the best deals (in terms of award miles and the actual cost per minute). It seems like some will offer you a ton of miles, but you get stuck paying .10 a minute all the time. Whichever deals you mention, please include the phone number I will need in order speak to a sales rep, and the promotional code (if one is needed).

I agree 100% The best program I have used. Their international rates are also excellent

The only problem I've encountered with OneSuite so far - and it is a major headache - is that the 800-dialaround access number is busy 99.9% of the time during peak calling hours 7PM-11PM.

So I use a Sam's Club prepaid card during that time, which although it's a solution, is a pain to have to keep track of another calling card account, PIN, etc. Is the $0.01 savings worth it? Some days I think not, so it's likely I'll just ditch OneSuite soon unless they get another dialaround number, added capacity, or both!

I too use Onesuite and recommend them, but like the previous posters have started seeing a busy signal every now and then on the access number. No big deal so far, recall once or twice and it's fine, but if we keep telling people about it it may get worse.

I saw a promotion code field on the sign-up page for onesuite. Does anybody know any promo codes for onesuite ?

It's 2.9 cents per minute, what could they possibly be offering as a promotion with that rate unless they come to your house and dial the telephone for you? But a penny saved...

I hardly call within the U.S but was looking at their intl. rates for certain countries i call heavily - though these rates are great, they are not the best when compared with certain calling cards.
I was going to try onesuite mainly for convenience and reliability.
Hence, my interst in a promo code, possibly for heavy intl. users which could save me more than a few many pennies http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

my research into long distance companies a few years ago discovered one CRITICAL issue...rounding of minutes, as this company does. When a ld company offers 6-second incremental billing (usually after a 30sec min charge), you get a true rate as advertised for what you pay for...but when the company ROUNDS UP to even minutes, like this company does, as do most cellular companies (subject of class action suits BTW if undisclosed), you mathematically and effectively pay 30% MORE than the advertised charge.

Thus, 2.9 cents/min becomes in reality 3.77 cents/min.

Still an impressive rate, but when comparing against other programs, consumers should be aware that ROUNDING POLICY actually affects the true rate as much as min charges per month, etc.

The rounding policy only matters if you tend to make shorter phone calls. If most of my calls are an hour long, then the difference between being billed for 60 and 61 minutes is only 1.7%.

Tried OneSuite for international calls for the first time a few days ago, and OneSuite kept dropping the connection and kicking me back to the "dial the number you want to call" prompt. Hmm.

This isn't exactly correct. You pay a surcharge every time you use OneSuite from payphones, which includes hotel phones.

I call to Kiev, Ukraine regularly. I have tried IDT, 10-10-220, Net-2-Phone and AT&T. 10-10-220 was the cheapest but the sound quality was frequently so awful I stopped using it. Net-2-Phone was the next least expensive provider but, again, I was not very satisfied with the sound quality. AT&T had great sound quality but cost 37 cents per minute. IDT was even more expensive.

Now I use WDT. The cost is 6 cents per minute for interstate calls and 20 cents per minute for calls to Kiev. Significantly, I have found the sound quality and reliability of service on calls to Kiev to be near AT&T quality. Of course, there are a few disadvantages with WDT: I have to dial a toll free number to get connected (1-888-930-5930); I am billed with a separate bill each month; I must pay my WDT bill with a mailed check (credit card and bank draft payment are not accepted); and I had to submit to a credit check before WDT would give me an account.

Other features about my WDT service is that although I must use a toll free number to get connected, when I use my home telephone I do not need to enter a personal identification code. WDT's computer has a caller ID mechanism that allows it to identify me whenever I call from my home. Therefore, WDT knows it's me calling and as soon as the computer answers, it immediately asks me for the number I want to call. However, if I call the access number from a phone that is not my home telephone, I can still use WDT by simply entering in a personal ID number. I have found that this system works very well.

I also like getting a printed and itemized bill every month showing all my calls on the WDT system. When I used IDT and Net-2-Phone, I would only be sent a bill if I called and asked for it. Also, I had to wait on hold a long time in order to get to a customer service representative to request the bill. With WDT, I have never waited on a customer service rep more than a minute.

If anyone is interested in trying WDT, call customer service at 1-888-353-0808. Also, if anyone knows of an even better service than this one for calls to the Ukraine, please make a post identifying it. When you do, I would be interested in knowing what rating you give to that carrier's sound quality.

Try Big Zoo. Fantastic international rates and I believe 2.9 cents domestic. You do use an 800 number but it seems to be available almost always.

You were not trying ot get voice mail or something that required you to press the # key were you? If you hit it a few times in the menus the system thinks you want to make another telephone call.
