12 Days of Christmas

Just received this in my e-mail:

Sure, someone may want a partridge in a pear tree, but those of you who are frequent flyers understand the 12 Days of Christmas in a different way. Starting on Wednesday, December 13, those of you who are registered for our popular email newsletter . MilesLink . have a chance to win up to 78,000 frequent flyer miles. Herešs how it works.

It's your chance to earn lots of miles from us! Starting on December 13th, WebFlyer starts the "12 Days of Christmas" promotion where you can earn real frequent flyer miles. Each day at noon (MST), we will be posting a randomly drawn winning name on the 12 Days of Christmas page of WebFlyer (go there from the top of http://www.webflyer.com). Check every day to see if your name is posted. Names will be posted for 24 hours starting at noon (MST) and ending at noon (MST) the next day. If you see your name, simply e-mail us WHILE your name is posted and you will be awarded 1,000 to 12,000 (depending on which day you win) frequent flyer miles from any of the programs posted on the 12 Days of Christmas page. If a day passes without a winner, the frequent flyer pot will grow by the number of miles offered that day, increasing daily until some lucky flyer flies them home, a nice bonus this holiday season! So, check every day to see if you are a winner (actually we think you are all winners...you did click into WebFlyer didn't you?).

Each day, the winners' names will be posted under the day they've won. Just click the "claim your prize" link to claim your prize while your name is still posted. Remember that you have until noon the next day to claim your prize. For more information, check out the rules link.

On the first day of Christmas, WebFlyer gave to you... 1,000 FlightFund miles *

On the second day of Christmas, WebFlyer gave to you... 2,000 Aviators miles *

On the third day of Christmas, WebFlyer gave to you... 3,000 Canadian points *

On the fourth day of Christmas, WebFlyer gave to you... 4,000 Marriott Rewards points *

On the fifth day of Christmas, WebFlyer gave to you... 5,000 Dividend Miles *

On the sixth day of Christmas, WebFlyer gave to you... 6,000 Executive Club miles *

On the seventh day of Christmas, WebFlyer gave to you... 7,000 WorldPerks miles *

On the eighth day of Christmas, WebFlyer gave to you... 8,000 Starwood starpoints *

On the ninth day of Christmas, WebFlyer gave to you... 9,000 SkyMiles *

On the tenth day of Christmas, WebFlyer gave to you... 10,000 OnePass miles *

On the eleventh day of Christmas, WebFlyer gave to you... 11,000 AAdvantage miles *

On the twelfth day of Christmas, WebFlyer gave to you... 12,000 Mileage Plus
miles *

So, how do you register? If you're registered for our email newsletter, MilesLink, there's no need to register again - you're already entered! If you have never registered for MilesLink, do it right now and join the fun! Even if you've arrived after the contest has started, you can still join in by registering now!

Sorry to dissapoint you but only a one-time message and we're not going to post your actual email address. We'll post your name and your domain name but not your user name.......We too worry about spam issues by posting an actual email adress.

Hope this eases any worries. Good luck to you all.

Thanks! That sounds excellent! Good fortune to all, Happy Holidays!

If your name is "Elbert", you should surely check out the winners @ www.webflyer.com today! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Thanks Randy! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Anyone else realize that the twelve days of Christmas DON'T START ON DECEMBER 13TH, they start on DEC. 25TH, and they run for twelve days until JAN 5th. January 6th has traditionally been EPIPHANY, the day that the wisemen were said to have arrived at the manger to bring their gifts to the newborn Jesus.

I hate to get TECHNICAL, but the twelve days of christmas don't start for another 12 DAYS!

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

P.S. I'd still take the miles, though, even if they DO come a few days early! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Great idea!

The winners are posted on the front page of the 12 Days of Christmas section of WebFlyer, at http://www.webflyer.com/12days/12days.htm

In order to make sure you see the most current information, please hold down your Shift key and click the Refresh/Reload button.

Thanks!

If we are going to post the person's name here why don't we just email them to let them know they won. Heck why not just send them the prize. I think the idea was to get people to LOOK at the WebFlyer main page everyday, as in driving traffic to your site. JMHO so no need to flame please http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif I'd be happy to see my name on the boards as the winner but I'll still check the main page everyday, which I believe is the "spririt" of the sweepstakes.

cactuspete Dec 13, 2000 5:45 pm

Boy, those multiple-identity FTers sure have an advantage in this contest!

Dorian Dec 13, 2000 5:49 pm

I have a feeling I'm not gonna be a winner... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

You're absolutely correct! As another voice crying in the wilderness to another, I like to remind folks of when the twelve days actually start.
Yes, I'll take the miles too http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Same here. 01/01/01 is the first day of the 21st Century in my book. I will also start counting the 12 Days of Christmas on December 25.
Think of it as the one present you get to open early!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Ling Dec 16, 2000 3:15 pm

So what name was drawn on the 14th? From doc's post I gather it wasn't me on the 13th, and I checked yesterday and today. If you don't claim your prize, is your name thrown back in?

Randy Petersen Dec 16, 2000 6:35 pm

Yes, since we have developed a name generator for random draws into the email database, it is possible that your name can be drawn again because your name is actually always in the database, not taken out because of the draw. And with new people signing up all the time and the draw taking place just a few minutes before noon each day, old and new alike have an equal shot. Good luck to you.

Actually in answering this question I realized that even I have a shot since I'm registered with MilesLink....and we have no rules prohibiting my winning. But I do promise I won't short any of you with a chance to win if my name comes up, in fact, you may wish that since I would decline and the miles carry over to the next day....more for you to win.

I have been going to this site during the entire contest, and suddenly I cannot get past the 5th day. I have tried to reload, but to no avail. anybody have any newer info? I want to make sure I don't miss my name.

zipual Dec 19, 2000 8:20 am

Nevermind, my reload is now working.

PremEx Dec 19, 2000 12:27 pm

I've decided I don't like this contest.

Every day I visit the site and I'm reminded what I've already known all along...

I'm A Loser!

doc Dec 19, 2000 1:00 pm

Only in this "contest" perhaps, but it's better to be a winner in "other" things, as you surely are! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

But there is always hope - tomorrow you could win 30K Starwood points.

danM Dec 19, 2000 3:51 pm

Just out of curiosity -- what happens if
the winner on the last day doesn't claim
his/her prize? Is a new winner chosen on
the 26th, or does the prize just stay
unclaimed?

Lisa @ WebFlyer Dec 19, 2000 5:04 pm

Actually, all unclaimed miles will be donated to charity. ClickRewards is partnered with a variety of charities (visit them at http://www.clickrewards.com/shopearn/charities.html) and we will select one to donate all unclaimed miles to. We'll let you know once we decide which charity will receive the miles. You can read this information in the 12 Days of Christmas rules page at http://www.webflyer.com/12days/12drules.htm .

Thanks!

So I guess if we are all losers, then the charities are the big winners!

Gee, I guess being a loser isn't so bad after all! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

axicano Dec 19, 2000 10:30 pm

What happens if one of the lurkers such as Adam, Jae, or William is drwan? Are they allowed to keep the points for themselves if they are signed up for the news letter, or are they disqualified?

Lisa,

Is it possible to post the all the people picked even if they didn't win? I have just arrived at my destination after 33 hours of traveling and I wanted to see if I missed anything.

Catman Dec 20, 2000 8:02 am

Dear Santa: Please please please let me be the name picked for the 12th day of Webflyer prize. I could use the miles.

Yours in purring,

CATMAN http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

UserMark Dec 20, 2000 12:07 pm

Out of curiosity, how many users are in the pool?

PG Dec 20, 2000 12:40 pm

And how many of these users are inactive - quite a bit it seems. I think I once registered under a work email which is not valid any more.

Have any FlyerTalkers won anything yet? I just saw that no prize was claimed by today's deadline and the next winner can take 30k!!
Only one guy has won anything!

Randy Petersen Dec 21, 2000 9:32 am

PG - all the people we pick from are active. As you might know, we pick the winner from those registered to receive MilesLink. We send a MilesLink newsletter out every month and if there were any inactive email, they would bounce back and our system deletes them. In the case of an old office email, the chances are probably pretty good that eventually it would have been kicked back by the "post office" there at work. If you received a MilesLink from us at he start of the campaign and received a normal MilesLink just today, then you are registered. If you've not gotten anything from MilesLink in the last week, then we don't have you registered. Only those registered for MilesLink have a chance at winning. Yesterday a lady won 30,000 miles and there's still 42,000 miles to give away.

What are your odds? Well, they are much better than one in a million. In fact they are one in 250,000 to win a daily prize from the 12 Days of Christmas.

Good luck.....and don't be too disapointed, I haven't yet won either.

Regarding what happens if there's no winner on the last day... IMHO they should keep going until there is one. If they want to donate some miles to charity, that's great, but they can do that independently of this contest. The two things are not related in any way. The contest was designed to generate traffic to the webflyer site, which it surely has done, and all the prizes should go to the people responsible for that traffic. IMHO.

Nanook Dec 28, 2000 8:32 am

I looked this morning and they have posted whose name was drawn on each day. Thank goodness mine wasn't among them because I couldn't check for a few days. I would have felt a real loser if my name had been on there. Now I'm just not among the winners.

Rudi Dec 28, 2000 8:58 am

I am pretty sure Nanook, that if you would have won, FlyerTalkers would email you right away.
