AT&T Wireless...? HELP

Hi, I signed up for AT&T Wireless in January under the 5,000 bonus mile promotion. I never received the miles and AT&T is claiming I am not eligible. I know I am eligible and would like to know if anyone has a screenshot or anything related to this promotion. It was 5,000 miles for 1 year, under $50 plan, and 10,000 for 2 year, over $50. Moderator, sorry for posting in this forum, but I know AT&T no longer participates in mileage promotions so I assume no one would check the appropriate forum.

Thanks

Hey Man,

Do you know what this promotion was called, and if its still around... Because I have close to $100 month plan now and on a 2year contract... I would love to get some miles, if its still around...

I'd post in whatever airline it was, somebody there must know about it.

Good luck, though I wouldn't hold my breath.

Someone told me that ATT Wireless Service was acquired by Cingular....is that true?

jmorgans Aug 29, 2004 9:24 pm

The airline was American but the deal ended in April 2004.

I am guessing that when you signed up the agent didn't enter the proper code into the system. I don't know how you prove otherwise now.

tekelberry Aug 29, 2004 10:54 pm

Do you have a family plan? Family plans aren't eligble for the miles.

CO Had this Deal

Continental Airlines had this deal - It was valid for accounts that were opened & signed up before May 1, 2004. If you were active as of 4/30/04, you should be able to get the miles retro-creditted - call up ATT WS Service (611 from the cell phone or the toll-free) and ask them about the retro-creditting of miles. I have a corporate discount, so they told me I couldn't get it - but that's a load of crap as I signed up for it through an ATT Rep who told me I could get both my discount & the 5K miles.

AT&T Wireless Mess

I went round and round on this one for a while, called them in May and again in June, was told the miles would be posted, but nothing ever happened. In July I sent an email via the wireless website explaining my problem and was told the program had been disolved and I could NOT get any miles from this promotion. HOWEVER, they offered me a onetime $150.00 credit in leiu of the miles, which I accepted. I had to call back to get the credit, which they had documented in my account already. It wasn't the miles, but at least it was something. Good Luck! Never give up!!! :-: :-:

ATT screwed me on my marriott points a couple years ago.

Wilbur Sep 1, 2004 2:12 pm

No miles from ATT Wireless for me, either.

Skylink USA Sep 1, 2004 3:17 pm

I am having horrible problems with reception. I am in town, not near tall buildings. 80% of my calls have dropout and 25% of calls are dropped calls. It's almost as bad as using a tin can on a string.

They kept stringing me along until they finally said, "you are past 30 days from signing on, so what if you've had it less than 30 days, tough luck"

I signed up for Delta Skymiles when I picked-up ATT Wireless earlier this year. So far not a peep re: my miles!

ganefe Sep 4, 2004 10:32 pm

same goes for me.

when calling about my supposed 5k continental bonus I was offered to get locked in for another year contract for 50 $ credit. !
Good thing they were bought out!

Ive left them anyway as soon as I could.

Well that's the excuse they gave me when they refused to issue the miles. It even says so in the T&C:

Offer not valid on AT&T Free2Go Wireless, AT&T Shared Advantage, GSM Family and AT&T Wireless GoPhone plans.

tb Sep 23, 2004 8:07 am

I had signed up before 4/30 and I didn't receive my 5000 aadvantage miles (for a $39.99 plan) so I called AT&T wireless last night. The first line customer service reps said that the promo had finished and that I couldn't do anything about it. He wanted me to call AA. The second line reps were adamant too but then I asked them if they would terminate my contract without me having to pay the cancellation fees (since the only reason I signed up with At&t was for the miles). After the rep discussed it with a supervisor, I was offered $100. Not as good as the $150 seen above or the 5000 miles, but it was better than nothing.

So for all out there who haven't received your miles, keep trying!

joeyvegaz Sep 23, 2004 1:07 pm

Unless...you get the same CSR I was so fortunate to get. 1 Hour on the phone, all I heard was "NO matter who you talk to, we are not giving you anything. I sometimes get credits cards in the mail saying I am approved, but I am really not, so that must be what happened with the miles, you really were not able to receive them. You can't talk to a supervisor because they won't do anything for you." Finally, through email, where I am less likely to become furious, I am getting somewhere, not far, but somewhere.

joeyvegaz Sep 29, 2004 7:59 am

Finally

Well, it finally happened. I got my deserved miles. However, it was a call to AAdvantage that sealed the deal. I got fed up with calling ATT and called AAdvantage, and about 4 days later, I received the missing 5000 miles. AA 1, ATT 0. And I am still waiting for a response from ATT...some of the poorest CS I have witnessed.

Try porting an out of state number into a different region from ATT to Cingular -> then you will know what the worst CS ever is!!!

Took me about 24 hours on the phone and a trip to Michigan!!!! to finally get my number ported!

I did sign up for the 5000 miles through continental for a new cingular account. Have only had the phone for about a month now, so I'm hoping I will actually receive the credit!

ironmanjay Sep 29, 2004 1:21 pm

I signed up for Delta miles...nothing. Called back..nothing. Finally, received a letter saying i wasnt eligable.....
