to get it go :

www.miles-and-points.de

looks like it is endorsed by mike;support still seems to come from moonlightlabs.

That means it's only a matter of time before we get a version we can read...

FYI: Miles & Points will take your old copy of Miletracker.settings and work just fine - in german. I just copied it form my old Miletracker directory into the Milesandpoints directory and all my old accts and passwords came over.

How did you do this?

Thanks

1. Use http://babelfish.altavista.com/ to translate the German into English and read the directions.

2. Register and they email a password.

3. Download software after log in.

4. Then open Windows Explorer and copy the miletracker.settings file from C:\Program Files\DeskPort to C:\Program Files\Miles & Points and replace the file in Miles & Points.

5. All Deskport Miletracker settings are now in the new program and it works fine.

Quick and easy if you are Windows literate, get help otherwise.

I can't use due to firewall

The previous 1.9XX version, I can use it behind my company's firewall. However, Mr Mike decided not to include some settings in his 2.0, which won't work behind firewall automatically. Anyone here has a way to tweak it to work behind a firewall. Even his software too won't work in Deskport behind firewall.

I am running DeskPort just fine on my laptop which operates on my corporate network behind a firewall and using a proxy server.

CrAAzyPlatinum:

Thanks for the instructions ... it works fine!

Sorry for the paranoia...but are we sure that this new German version is authorized by Moonlight? Does the German version store password info only on the local machine and not transmit any of it? I'm a little leary of using a third party version unless it has expressly been authorized by Moonlight Labs, whom I trust.

You bet user ID and password is transmitted.

It is going to be pretty hard to authenticate your account to the various FFP websites without transmitting your user ID and password information. As for as the FFP servers are concerned, Miletracker is communicating to them just like any other browser, and requires the same information to authenticate a new user session.

hmm... the "view" links disappeared. Only Check and Navigate functions remained.

guiming_miao Sep 4, 2004 12:38 pm

Where is the 'check for upgrades ...' option

Looks like this option is gone now.

Thanks for the link.

I guess "Miles & Points" checks for updates when you start the program.
.. at least my installed Zone Alarm asks for permission that "Miles & Points" can access the Internet..

And here is the version:
