I am glad to hear Mile Tracker is back! I absolutely hate Desk Port! I found a similar site, with a link to the site https://www.myairmiles.com that is similar to Mile Tracker. The downside is it doesn't track hotel points, only airlines, and a limited number besides. It's easy to use and you can set the frequency of how often you want updates sent to you. I had problems with Alaska and American account numbers/passwords, the system said there was an error. Not sure what the problem was! For what it's worth, this is an okay site. I much prefer Mile Tracker!! Much more comprehensive and includes hotels, car rental, etc.... :)

Very Nice! ... and surprisingly easy to navigate (despite the language barrier!).

for those of you using deskport -- have you noticed that when you quit out of the program, it remains running on your computer? and if you restart it, it starts a 2nd copy running?

i just looked at the running "processes" on my computer, and saw 6 deskports (i dont reboot too often).

should i be worried?

Quit vs. Quit

Well, if you "X" out of the program, it does not "quit"; rather, the program remains running and its content (eg obviously not miletracker) is updated periodically depending on your settings, eg. like TV Guide. As far as why it does not detect when a copy is already running, i suspect that's more poor programming that anything sinister.

Personally, I run Deskport when i want to run miletracker. After I'm done, i RIGHT CLICK on the icon and EXIT out of the program entirely. Given the price (free), the 5 seconds it takes to right click and exit sure isn't a problem for me.

Hooray!

Thank you! Just downloaded and installed - can't believe it found all my information - I thought I had deleted everything!!! Works fine - I've been using On Center and had gotten used to it - although I didn't really need all the tracking of credit cards and"stuff" - it came in handy - so for now will leave both programs on and running. :)

I downloaded both. Personally I prefer the deskport version to the USAToday version, as the latter fills half the screen with pesky ads or USA today links.

So far no computer performance issues with either one. ^

Thanks for the updates. The new USA Today Miletracker works for me. It is much easier than resetting the computer clock and remembering to reset again when finished. Even with the resets the old Miletracker wouldn't pick up my starwood or upromise accnts. This new version does. I am happy with it!

Does this mean that our original Mike sold it to a German company who in turn sold it to USA Today?

not complaining.... just curious... how come when I thought I had removed the miletracker software from my computer months ago...this new version ( which is GREAT) was able to pick up all my old stats ( although the numbers of miles and points were listed in quanities from months ago when I thought I had removed the program....)

that when you go to uninstall the program, it removes the program and associated program files, but does not remove your data file. That's why your old data was able to be picked up.

Because uninstalls usually leaves bits and pieces behind, data files, registry entries, etc. Sometimes it's intentional (so you don't keep installing a 30 day full featured trail over and over again every 30 days so you don't have to pay), sometimes it's not intentional, they just forgot to list some files to be removed in their routine.

It's why so many people believe you should reformat your hard drive and reinstall all your stuff every now and then to keep the system functioning the way you want.

There are also commercial uninstaller programs to help, but they too miss stuff.

I'm very grateful to USA Today for bringing back MileTracker, but am I the only one having trouble with the program? Specifically:

1. The entire top and the right side of the bottom of the screen is travel news and advertisements. No problem with that, I understand that USA Today is a for-profit organization. But the actual "MileTracker" part of the program is squeezed into a bottom left corner of the screen, and I found that it takes a lot of scrolling and minimizing/maximizing the screen size to input all the data, and then seeing all the results at once is pretty much impossible unless you print out the table.

2. I also don't see any option for checking all accounts with one click, as the old MileTracker did. I seem to have to click on each account separately in order to update it. Am I missing something? With the old MileTracker, it was really convenient to click on "Check All" and update all accounts in an instant.
