I completed the 500k bonus run from the 26th - 28th May (But have not had any of my miles credited as yet)

Back today from the 500,000 mile run (1 person). I met Randy, Pegasus, milesRus, dhacker, and a friend of Randy's yesterday in CCS. I was getting off the flight from BOG on Avianca that they were all about to get on, for it's return to BOG. Thank you Randy, for all the Flyertalk goodies and even more so for this board. Had I known how flawlessly the trip would go I would have gone for the 1 million. Latin America is fascinating and Latin Pass certainly has accomplished one of it's goals in attracting new business.

Up the MILLION MILE tally by: 2
Jim Denny and I completed the million mile run when we got back to Chicago on TWA flights form MIA/STL on May 27. No significant problems on the trip - I've posted a delayed trip report (we went right to Paris and Germany/Austria and just got back online) on the Is Anyone Going? thread. How long is it taking others to get the TWA credits posted? My LP # appeared on all four boarding passes, but as of yesterday those credits are recorded by Latinpass. Oh, also, the LIM - Iquitos turnaround was NOT A PROBLEM. Two excellent Taca Peru agents at checkin assisted us and called the Iquitos Taca Peru agent who met us on the tarmac and escorted us through the terminal and back to the plane. This makes the trip less tiring than the LIM - CUZ - LIM roundtrip as one can shower and get about five or six hours of sleep in Lima. Also, the fare category (V) we had for the ticket was honored for mileage. In Miami we were worried about getting the credit, so we left the airport and went to the Grupo Taco office that is near the airport (took a free car rental shuttle whose lot is right next door to Grupo Taca). We were prepared to pay the $172 extra for the Y fare, but the agent called Taca Peru and confirmed IN WRITING that the V fare would be honored for LP credits. Sure enough, it is posted. Not posted yet are the COPA, Aeropostal, and AVIANCA flights, but we have those well documented with photos, signatures attesting our presence from flight attendants, boarding passes, and copies of the full boarding passes. Wish to avoid the crowds at checkin with TACA - in San Jose, Guatemala City, and Managua you can check in 24 hours in advance and secure your boarding pass at the city offices of Grupo Taca - they will even accept your luggage. Finished my Million Mile Run last weekend. Did it over two weekends. Last weekend was Lima/Cusco/Lima/Quito/Bogota/Caracas/Aruba/ Caracas. Total cost of airfare for all Latin American International flights was $2000. Of course, hotels, car rentals and domestic flights were extra.
Have found Latinpass personnel to be very friendly and cooperative. They ARE swamped! |
1 more for the million miles

Just completed the Million run last weekend. Saw quite a few people along the way and even was seated next to Randy on the Quito-Lima Aces flight. What a small world!

I just completed my million mile run last night. I started out with Randy, Milerus, pegasus, myriad, and a non-FTer. Thanks for the FT stuff and the company. I flew UIO-LIM and LIM-CUZ with Craz and saw two non-FTers doing the run on Aviateca GUA-SAL. Myraid and I toured Quito and flew to CUZ together after I left Randy and Co. at UIO.
An Associated Press reporter interviewed me at the GUA Marriott on Thursday night. He said his story should be on the AP wire today. His photographer either never showed up or never found me at the GUA airport the following morning. I had no significant problems and in fact had alot of fun. Some of my million miles will definitely be spent returning to Latin America. I am still a little concerned about whether my "MetroJet by US Airways" segments will qualify for LatinPass mileage credit. Asking USAir about it is nearly impossible since most of their employees don't know they are a mileage earning LatinPass partner. Maybe I should fly a few TW segment this week as insurance. |
am sitting is St louis now, having just gotten off my twa flight to complete the million mile requirments. Had a great time with Hacker et al. on the trip. I also note one non-internet friend from australia that also did the million........so that's two for a million from this post. My guess is about 400 for both the 500 and the million! pretty amazing

I'd be interested to know about what the million or 1/2 million mile run costs to accomplish if anyone would care to post.
Thanks, Jay |
dhacker: MetroJet does post: I have IAD_MIA and my traveling companion has MDW_IAD and IAD_MIA on his aco....-- my missing MDW_IAD is the only thing between me and the million. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Both flights were in V-- $89 one way MDW-MIA.
JayBrian: As I recall, my Million Mile trip was right around $1584 plus 20,000 Continental miles, including ticket taxes but not departure taxes collected at airports. (Departure taxes ranged from $2 to $42, with most around $20.) These tickets were purchased in late April for a trip Apr. 30 to May 11. My itinerary, along with others' itineraries and fares, are in the "LatinPass Million (and Half Million) Mile Club" thread under Itineraries-- the last post was May 30.
