please help find cheap fare to jacksonville , FL

hello all,

i have a computer-less friend who needs to be in jacksonville,fl. this sat. morning. he can only fly out of new haven or providence airports and can leave and return whenever it's least expensive -- including sat.

and if you can find a cheap fare for me to get from jfk to seattle so i can go to punki's fun weekend...i had a good time at my first FT dinner in NJ last wk.

thanks

For your friend, it's likely Priceline can't be beat for him, but I don't recommend using their call in service. If you or another friend can give him access to the Internet and he decides to try Priceline, he'll need to bid Fri-Sun in order to insure he'll be at his destination on Saturday morning.

I'll be happy to help him bid if he posts to the message board I host, providing all of the requested info. from the Airline Ticket FAQ category.

Please tell him that he should pretty much write off New Haven for a cheap deal. PVD-JAX is a Southwest-compete route and will be significantly cheaper than flying anywhere out of New Haven.

Might not be useful for you but US has PHL-SEA for $289 + tax this weekend. Too bad you couldn't plan ahead with the $99 each way coast-to-coast sale that WN started.

1.Try to see if there are any weekend internet fares from your cities. 2. Price line works pretty well, just got a weekend fare from STL to DEN for $200 plus tax.

Not that I advocate cross-posting, steathflier, but you might try posing your question to the GeneralTravelTalk forum where more people might be able to help you. This forum is for folks looking for info the latest FF buzz ...

Stealthflyer, I would check with Southwest or CO or Delta and see if they have special fares for your friend to attend the funeral. Explain the circumstances and see what happens.

I would also look into southwest and see if they might have something out of Jacksonville.

I know this is repeated information but maybe it can help.

Also, this is a good topic for General Travel Talk so you might want to post a link to this forum or post again. Essxjay makes a good point.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Southwest Airlines does not offer bereavement/compassion fares. Their reasoning behind this is that their full walkup fares are typically lower than the bereavement fares of other carriers.

Yes, Sheryl, but other carriers will usually waive the advance purchase restrictions, etc to bring you their lowest fare- hopefully close if not equal to the Southwest fare!

FWIW, I've usually done best with TWA in this situation, personally.
