I just subscribed and thought I'd share a little math I did in case anyone is interested.
On the webpage it shows a value of $343 for the subscription, which is more than 10 CPM and I was quite excited. I then looked up the price of subscription at wsj.com. It's something like $59 for 28 weeks or $99 for 58 weeks. I then worked out a value of $74.71 for the 39 weeks subscription, or 2.264 CPM. Since I like the WSJ and was able to get it without money out of pocket, I subscribed :) |

One can get a cheaper rate on the WSJ by going through eBay than by going to WSJ's own website? If so, how?

I like getting good value for miles and getting subs with miles as much as anyone. I currently have a sub for the Economist thanks to Delta miles.
But, I have just about decided that the whole sub/miles thing is a little problematic because of the very long delay in the sub start. With the Economist it took around three months to start getting it. When I subscribe I want the publication ASAP. With paid subs the Economist starts within a week or two. Guess I have a problem with delayed (printed) gratification. :) |

I just subscribed for $99 for 56 weeks with net access at https://services.wsj.com/Gryphon/jsp...jsp?page=11222
I would have liked to use miles for this, but, I couldn't find a good offer and, I don't want to wait three months for delivery to start. This was an acceptable compromise. Plus, I can get miles when I pay with my credit card! |
anyone know of a current deal on this? It seems that WSJ is closing down any of the sub 100$ paper and internet plans, seems pretty silly, to lose customers. I just use the google trick but get most of it on my iphone as it is.

Condition is no subscription in previous 180 days. There is no code, it is response card only. |

Delivery to my Mom started in under a week using USAir miles. |
Here is an online offer I have received today:

thanks for the offer. yeah, it appears the days of the 99$ a year, online and print are over. The best I can find is 9.99$ a month, 119$ a year, or this one which is 138$, but with two freee weeks. I think I'll do the 119$ and get it. I know I can get everything online for free via google, which works quite well, but I still the the paper for days, bm's and travel.

Just got a call out of the blue from a telemarketing firm working for the WSJ. I let my subscription lapse in March, and they were following up with a new offer (they had all the proper personal detail from my expring account, so it was not a cold solicitation).
The new deal is $99 for a year (plus local sales tax), both print and online. So apparently the old rate is still around. I grabbed it. As an FYI, the caller ID on my phone read: "TLC Associates (319) 730-4172" |
@craig6z, thanks for the update. Maybe I'll sweat it out a few weeks and see what happens, make sure my number is up to date. I'm on the road at the moment, so the iphone and free google wsj.com access is enough for me at the moment. I'll take the 99$ if they call and offer it up.

I just used my Delta miles for subscribing to WSJ. I think I spent 3200 miles for 230 issues, if I remember right, which I figured was a OK deal.
too bad e-rewards no longer has the WSJ redemption option. |
