I found a decent fare on lowestfare.com from MDW to LAS on "National Airlines". I've never flown that airline, or even heard of them till today...
Is it a good airline or should I take the next option that is about $75 more expensive (ATA)

National is 100 times better than ATA. They are a new Vegas-based airline with lots of legroom and great service.
The name comes from the old "I'm Debbie---Fly me" airline, but there's no relation.

Good feedback from friends of mine who fly them often to Vegas from JFK; they won't fly anything else but. National's unique Frequent Flyer program was also an attraction to my friends, so you may want to go to the National web site and read up on it.
To the doubters, my friends tout National's good service and on-time flights (!) that has been their experience. Combine that history with their decent Frequent Flyer program, and you should be pleased.

I flew once from SFO to LAS and had a great experience as well as a dirt cheap rate. Would definately do it in the future given the chance. Booked my trip also through Lowestfares.com. It came out cheaper to fly to LAS including the car and room then to drive to Lake Tahoe and only having to pay for the room

My folks flew LAS-DFW on National recently and raved about it. They didn't have too much to say about the service one way or another, but they definitely liked the price!

I spent a day with a flight crew from a National flight at Venice Beach when I was in LAX in June.
They's had a flight cancelled and had the day off on full pay til their evening flight.
There was the captain and about 6 others. They were THE most friendly and ENTHUSIASTIC people about their airline you could ever wish .. and all were "off duty" in civvies.
If this gang were any kind of guage of the service level, on board, I'd fly them in a moment. Lot of crew get sort of "jaded". These people were fantastic and wonderful ambassadors.
