IP logging turned on?
I just noticed that all posts now have a tag at the end that says: "IP: logged". Was that just turned on in light of recent um events on FT? Or has it always been on and I've just never noticed it?

I noticed it too. It wasn't there a couple hours ago. Sometime around 7 pm central time it popped up.

what does that mean? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/confused.gif
|
It means that everytime anyone posts something now the IP address you are posting from is logged.

Please don't panic. Yes, I decided to turn the IP logging on in order to keep track of the...um, "situation". http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif No one but the staff here in house can see this information and your privacy is protected. You have my word. Sorry to have to do it but I felt the situation warranted it.
As soon as we have the situation in hand again we'll go back to the honor system. Sorry for the inconvenince. ------------------ ThanX... Michael at WebFlyer |
Michael,
doesn't UBB offer something analogous to kill files on usenet? Seems to me that would be the best way to deal with the situation. |
"Situation"?
What situation is that? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
dont mind at all, be my guest, log me anytime u want.... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Happy to be logged if it means a return to civility. The recent "situation" is just not what we want on FT and it is good to see it being delt with. Good job Michael!

But that's the trade off for a GUI-groovy interface. <g> ...hey, if you can show me where to tweak it, I'd be darn grateful. UBB adminstration is tricky. :/ |
WHAT SITUATION.
I ONLY ONE DAY OLD AND DONT KNOW ABOUT THE SITUATION |
Thanks for taking steps to keep this a useful forum.

A wise move - I'm OK with having my footprints recorded...

While I am typically a staunch civil libertarian, I think in this case, IP logging is probably the least restrictive means of achieving the "compelling" state, er, FT interest of keeping the forum free of obscenity.
IP logging is a winner in my book. Thanks Michael, Greg |
What situation?
