any experience with hotel discounters--any you can suggest for US hotels? thanks.

I've found www.quikbook.com to have the best rates, though their selection in some cities can be slim or non-existent.

Sounded like a good tip. I just tried to book a LAX airpiort hotel for SEPTEMBER 17th, and a pop up came on saying "there is not enough lead time - please phone us"! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

You might want to try Hotel Reservation Network at 1-800-964-6835. A partial list of their availability can be found at http://www.180096hotel.com.

I booked a room with them at the Fairmont in New Orleans for $99 some time ago.
