Cheap Vegas Hotels??
 

I need a room at either Ceasars or MGM the first of November...what's the secret? Right now prices are HUGE!!

www.travelocity.com had some good deals last night on Vegas as I was checking for mid September .. they were about $50 nite for the "biggies" on South Strip.

Must be a huge conference etc for Nov 1st?

Try www.lvrs.com or www.lvtb.com for vegas. They usually have pretty decent rates.

The monte carlo often has "summer special" packages. That is right accross the street from MGM. It is a beautiful hotel. www.monte-carlo.com

I've never really seen what I'd consider "great" prices at either Caesars or MGM. Maybe $99 a night at best at MGM and at least that at Caesars. I've gotten the Luxor for $39 a night before at www.lvrs.com, which was fabulous, if you get a tower room.

I actually like the pyramid rooms in the Luxor... the key to avoiding vertigo in the inclinators is to stand sideways!

I'll let you in on a little secret. One of the cheapest ways to get Vegas rooms (if you don't gamble) is through www.unitedvacations.com -- just choose the "hotel only" package and you'll get a long list. Right now you can get the MGM on Nov. 1 for $78 including tax. It's nonrefundable though.

There is a huge convention, the second largest annually in town Nov 30 - Dec 3. SEMA, an association of companies that make aftermarket products for cars, etc. is holding their annual convention there.

Like Comdex, rooms and rental cars at any discount sell out fairly early, then everything left is expensive that week. We're paying about $600 per person for air from IND and room at the Sahara for 8 nights. But we bought this package last November.

These are all good ideas..........thanks for the teamwork. Its hard to pay a ton, then have nothing left to gamble.

If you are not picky about MGM or Caesar's you may want to try doing the timeshare thing promotion at the Hilton Grand Vacation Club, which is next to the Flamingo Hilton, which is just across the street from Caesar's. Check out HGVC.com or maybe the Hilton home page. We own in Orlando and they are always sending us stuff to go preview the Las Vegas property. Not a bad trade for 90 minutes of your time AND it's not pressure-filled like Fairfield and some of the other's.

Who knows, you may even like it. When we bought they threw in 80,000 HHonors points. Each year when we go back they ask us for a little of our time for breakfast and 25,000 points.

If you have any other questions, e-mail me. Since CEMA is in town, you will be hard-pressed to find ANYTHING inexpensive and the bigger houses will fill first. Wait too long and you'll be paying $150 a night at the Motel Six down by the Tropicana.

As was mentioned earlier, there's probably some convention on at that time. Comdex starts on Nov. 18 and will (pratically) sell out the entire city, so prices are sky high. At the right time prices are good. I was at the Mirage last week for $89/night. Both Caesar's and MGM were a couple of dollars cheaper. I also recommend that you check not only the hotel's web site but also some of the airlines' sites. I've used Northwest Vacations a few times in the past and their prices have been pretty good.

Hey snow, couldn't e-mail you so here's an update. Today in the mail I received some member referrals for the HGVC. The deal is do the 90-minute gig and stay three days, two nights for $79, and they also throw in some other goodies. If you want one, I'll send it to you. And I get HH points once you actually book and tour. Sounds win/win to me. Let me know.

Re: Cheap Vegas Hotel Rates....
The wife and I just got back from LV on Thursday-we try to go 2 or 3 times a year on vacation--been going since '85. I've found that by calling the hotels directly--not the central booking number, for Hiltons, for example, you can sometimes get unadvertised rates. All the larger hotels in LV have toll-free direct numbers. Also check out their web-sites for net specials--I recently saw either Ballys or Harrahs for $39 a night for certain dates in June or July.
Also, if you've been to LV before, or even if this is your first time there, be sure to join the hotel's players club. Joining is free at all the hotel casinos, and it gets you on their mailing lists for discounted offers...for example, when we got back from LV this week, there was a letter from Caesars offering us rates of $74 per night midweek, and $119 weekend up until early November.
Hope this helps--its not necessary to pay really high rates there, on this last trip, I got the impression that they may have overbuilt in LV, and there should be good rates available in the future. COMDEX, in mid November, is the exception ,though--the city is usually booked solid months in advance.
