Cancelled United Flight...Help
I was scheduled to fly out of Charlotte tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. I got a call tonight at about 6:30 telling me that the flight had been cancelled due to mech problems. Never mind the fact that I would think in 13 hours they could get another plane the whopping 1 1/4 hours to Charlotte...it just makes me mad.
So I called Premier reservations and got moved to a USAir flight that gets me to my final destination five hours later. I did have other options that got me there only 2.5 hours later, but I'm also preferred on USAir so thought I would maximize my miles. My question is am I entitled to anything else. I asked about miles on both the United flight and the USAir flight and the reservationist said that only was the case for Delta...which tells me she doesn't know what she's talking about. I would have received bonus miles on United obviously and am in danger of falling short of achieving status. Any ideas out there in FFT land? Please help! |
Other than the 5 hours, consider yourself lucky. You will get both status miles on UA AND USair. Just write a letter to UA explaining that your flight was canceled and what UA did to reaccomidate you and ask that your account be credited for the canceled flight (as well as nay other connecting flight(s) they caused you to miss). There is a certificate specifcally for this purpose that you can get from any UA counter agent (I keep a supply in my travel bag). So SMILE and enjoy the extra status miles on USair...

It's called "Mileage Plus Flight Credit Form."
PremEx has kindly scanned one as one of his uploads. Go to: http://members.aol.com/premex/upload...creditform.gif Using this form, or a letter, will do. You should have no trouble getting credit on both airlines. It's one of the few ways to "double dip" without violating anyone's policies. |
