Iceland Flights using AMEX Points?

I have 165k American Express points, and I need help understanding if I can use these, or what is the best way to use these to book a round trip flight from California to Iceland. I just found this site, used the search functions, but its a bit overwhelming. Can anyone help?

Thank you

Welcome to FT!

If you Google "KEF airport wiki," you will find the Wikipedia entry for Iceland's international airport. There you can find a list of airlines that serve it. Once you know which carriers serve KEF, that will help you figure out which of Amex's airline-transfer partners to search for award-seat availability.

When redeeming airline miles for such a trip is a good use of your Amex MR points will depend on what the cost of a cash ticket is.

Good luck!

Depending on when you are hoping to travel, you can get a roundtrip from LAX to KEF (with a couple of connections in each direction) for just 60,000 AA miles + $125 in taxes and fees. If you cannot find decent value with your Amex points, I would consider applying for a Barclays Aviator AAdvantage credit card, which would get you 60,000 AA AAdvantage miles after one purchase of any amount, with the card's annual fee waived the first year. Details here:
