So, there are 16 total Hyatt packages? What the heck?
Maybe Hyatt will have a second offer round this time? With 16 packages, I assume my chance of landing one the traditional way is as follows: basically zero. I will try to max out on Choice. |
Interesting that 2 of the 4 Accor Daily Getaways are for Ovation reward certificates for rooms that are stated not to be available for redemption on the Ovation Reward site. The Daily Getaway for the Fairmont El San Juan is for an Ovation Certificate said to be redeemable for a 1 BR suite and the one for the Fairmont Century Plaza is for a Gold Room. On the Ovation Reward site the Fairmont El San Juan Ovation Certificates are stated not to be redeemable for suites and the Century Plaza Ovation Certificates are not redeemable for Gold Rooms..

Just like in real life. Hyatt solid, Hilton....no way.
|
Hyatt offer doesn't feel as lucrative as previous years. 50000 points would get me two nights at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo, but I could book two nights now quite a bit cheaper than the $660 that the points would cost.
|
There is no end to finding examples like your Tokyo story. Whatever Hyatt is selling points for today with their big bonus, Daily Getaways is quite a bit less. No so for Hilton.
|
Doesn't really matter how much of a bonus they are selling points for if the end result is a stay that is still more expensive than booking a paid rate.

Not many Hyatt packages for sale. I’ll try my luck, but I doubt I’ll have much success there.

All depends on your needs. I am looking at nights in Paris where the choice is between almost 800 euros or 30,000 points. You can still get outsized value using Hyatt points but again buying points speculatively without a planned stay is risky.
One area where the purchase might make sense for me is using points for upgrading a paid stay to a suite, but availability for that is very spotty. |
In the current system, I can get around 2 cents per point on pretty basic Hyatt redemptions.
Don't follow the Hyatt forum close enough to know exactly how bad the coming devaluation is expected to be. With the entire hotel industry mostly eliminating soft product and even basic things like food at the hotels, I'm moving more and more leisure stays to Airbnb / VRBO / Booking.com. I'm hesitant to go out and voluntarily acquire new hotel points. I have a million HH and 500k Marriott to burn down before they become worthless. I'm going to flip 2022 business stays to Hyatt but probably won't aggressively pursue points beyond the stays and using the credit card for stays. |

For most other point sales, I think you can usually find them on sale anyhow for the same price. So why bother staking out a spot at your computer at exactly 1pm.... I do not understand all the hype around daily getaways. If you want points buy them when they are on sale. For the Hyatt ones, you not likely to get them. As well, they will be worth even less later this month, so you would do better to buy at the current slightly higher price today, then to purchase the cheaper ones that will be worth less tomorrow when the Hyatt peak pricing goes into effect in a couple of weeks. |
The 3 nights in a suite at the Venetian for 650$ is interesting...

I am just glad the Marriott gift cards are back, but very limited amounts
