Delta's New Web Site
 

Has anyone here seen Delta's new web site? I was on it today and it's pretty slick. You might want to try it out at www.delta-air.com...

Alright already, did you have to post this in every forum! Give us a break.

It is pretty cool. That's one thing you can depend on with DL, improvement in IT.

Come on Mark, you know I'm a big DL fan, but fact of the matter is there's nothing new on the website ... it does make it easier to get to the information though than on the old website ... I'm still waiting for online award booking ... and M, B, Y for international reservations ...

I agree with Beckles (although I detest DL since I live in ATL) that there really doesn't seem to be much that's new. This version had been online for quite sometime at http://new.delta-air.com/. I might use other words starting with s to describe it. They still don't even offer flight paging. As always, they've proven they're always several steps behind their competitors.

DL's website is OK, but I really can't find anything that special about it. I have found a lot of links on the website which don't work, and they still lack seat pitch info on their seat maps.

Isn't there a flight paging section on the front page Carl?

I have to say from a quick glance I have to agree with Beckles - but lets hope they have added the back end functionality to introduce improvments shortly. I would really like to see the international upgrade option as well.

Also, the new site looks much worse than the old one. Take a look at the instructions under 'reservations'... can you actually read text that small? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Now wait a second ... I said they added nothing new ... their old functionality that is on the new site is still better than most other airlines sites ...

* Instant posting of mileage to the website
* Ability to purchase and request upgrades on the website
* Fast and easy booking engine (faster than those on most other airlines websites, SW being the only one that is comparable IMO).
* Ability to view all future itineraries, regardless of how they were booked (as long as your SkyMiles number is on them).

As for seat pitch information, it looks like they screwed up, because that information was on the old website, but is not on the new website ...

I have asked that all additional threads posted by "Dockster" be deleted as they are related to "Delta's New Web Site", as I think one is enough. We are always a little suspicious when someone out on nowhere comes on, quickly posts in 7 places, an email advertisement to a commercial site, does not list their email address and dissapears. By deleting the others, at least the topic of Delta's new re-design can continue to be debated as shown by the above responses to the thread. Again, one post would have been sufficient.

Thanks to essxjay for assisting on tracking these 6 commerical emails. We are not doing this to "edit" FlyerTalk but to try and make sure that it remains as "commercial free" as possible.

The Delta new web interface is a copy cat of UA's. Maybe there's a hint there.

mntblue, the hint is obviously too subtle for me...

Beckles, I agree DL's use of the internet is a cut above most other airlines - I don't see that as any reason to be complacent or to stop adding new features/making improvments.

Not on the version I'm looking at. I also went through the site index and followed several different links. I tried both "flight paging" and "paging" in the search engine and it returned no results. Where are you seeing the option? Or is this something they're only offering in the UK? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/confused.gif

Maybe I'm wrong... what exactly do you mean by flight paging? I took it to me tracking of todays/yesterdays flights...

Also, if you subscribe, the WSJ did an article on the site February 3rd entitled "Delta Air's New Web-Site Design
Doesn't Take Off,Top Fliers Say".

Finally, James, flight paging (see www.ual.com as an example) allows you to be notified via phone,pager,email, etc. when a flight lands. www.thetrip.com also offers this. It's pretty cool when it works.
