Appears to be working for others still. Did you include a picture? Easiest way is usually to just retweet a post that has earned the points already.

So you have to have Twitter and instagram for this?...I guess so since I tweeted and it told me to connect my instagram, which I don't have one...

Yes. Most of the free points have been for tweeting. You get a small number of points for connecting an instagram account, but the vast majority of the ongoing points opportunities have been on twitter.
