Earn miles when ordering the Economist

Not as good as the prior promotion but still good value.

https://subscriptions.economist.com/.../dbl/index.php

Miles &More offer has expired now:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/miles...scription.html

As discussed if you are a non-US resident - just sign up with a US address and change it later.

Miles/Avios should credit within 8 weeks.

Is this a good deal?

acrollet May 8, 2014 12:52 pm

It works out to 2 cents per avios, so it depends how you value them, and the economist subscription itself.

piiit May 8, 2014 1:52 pm

Canadians get it at 165C$ again.

2 cents per avios (avio?) is good for me. I'm mostly looking at 9000 avios RT shorthauls on US. Booking a month or so out, they tend to go for north of $350 out of PWM. That's essentially buying the flight for half off if I can live with the award inventory, which I usually can.

You got the link?

Any estimates on the expiration date?

Spending money that you otherwise would not spend just to receive points is not a good idea IMO.

That's the entire point of this site.

If by "this site" you mean FT, I respectfully disagree with you. A major function of FT is to educate us to spend our money wisely (i.e., get the maximum value for our money, usually in terms of miles and points).

I can recall very few posts here which advocate just spending money which we would otherwise not spend simpky to grab some points/miles.

If you were referring to some other site, well, that's the point of just about any site - get you to part with your hard-earned dollars/pounds/euros/etc. which you might otherwise not do.

:p:p:p LOL!
Have you never heard of a mileage run? People on Flyertalk frequently make completely unnecessary trips just to maintain status.

This is a good deal. While the Economist is clearly not as good now as it was 15 years ago, I think that $1/issue is a fair valuation. This knocks the effective rate down to 1.35 cpm. And, as others have noted, BA points are extremely useful for short haul trips, plus slightly longer flights. E.g. HKG-SHA for $200, all in (on an airline that isn't Spring or China Eastern).

Does anyone know if I can enter my BA Avios # on the subscription page? Thanks!
