I think we all have our eye on the same prize: 25K miles for 20k points. But are these guys (MYPOINTS) going to last long enough for any of us to reach 20,000? I'm thinking about cashing in at 5,000 and quit while I'm ahead.
There was another service that awarded points as long as you kept their ad banner displayed on your screen...sort of an odometer that SLOWLY accumulated points as you stayed logged on doing other stuff. One day they send out an email saying "we're closed" sorry, so I'm a bit skeptical these guys will make it either. Anyone know if Mypoints is making money or is otherwise successful enough to stay around? |
Mypoints.com is now publicly traded, I believe on Nasdaq. This is of course good news, it means it has a huge market capitilization, will be around for awhile, and nobody cares how much it loses.
OMNI, I saw the other day that Priceline.com is valued by the market price at $20 billion, about the same as hmm, i forget now, think it was american united and delta combined.... No logic in this market. For more mypoints info, try www.mycoupons.com there are several discussion boards, one about rewards programs where you will come up with many items. cheers. tg [This message has been edited by tummyg (edited 09-28-1999).] |
Of course, this is a press release, so you've gotta take it with a grain of salt, but if popularity is any indicator, mypoints.com might be around for at least a little while.
-------------------------------- MyPoints.com Named Internet's Third Most Popular Shopping Site PR Newswire - Sep 07, 1999 Web Rating Firm PC Data: MyPoints.com Behind Only eBay and Amazon.com In June and July Traffic Reports SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- MyPoints.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: MYPT), a leading provider of Internet direct marketing, incentive and loyalty products, has been recognized as the Internet's third most popular shopping destination. In terms of overall traffic, Web rating firm PC Data's reports for the months of June and July place MyPoints.com just behind eBay and Amazon.com, and well ahead of sites such as CDNOW, CNET, barnesandnoble.com, eToys, and BMG. "Advertisers choose MyPoints.com because we can aggregate the traffic, and give them a set of tools to get people to respond -- personalized, targeted email and Web-based offers, and the ability to give Internet consumers an incentive to act," said Steve Markowitz, Chairman and CEO of MyPoints.com. "PC Data's numbers confirm what we already knew -- we are driving traffic that drives e-commerce." MyPoints.com operates the MyPoints Program, an Internet membership service that rewards consumers for reading and responding to targeted e-commerce offers by email and on the Web. In June, MyPoints.com was ranked third in terms of site traffic, behind eBay (second) and Amazon.com (first), according to PC Data's survey of Web shopping sites. In July, MyPoints.com was also ranked third, behind Amazon.com (second) and eBay (first), according to PC Data. However, the same reports showed that MyPoints.com did lead Amazon.com in other areas. In terms of average time spent online, Internet shoppers in both June and July spent more time on MyPoints.com than on Amazon.com. In the same time periods, MyPoints.com also generated more page views per user than Amazon.com. [snip - omitting company information and “safe harbor” statement] (Copyright (c) 1999, PR Newswire) |
Did anybody got 500 points for shopping at more.com. its been more than 4 weeks and I haven't seen the points. I emailed more.com and they said they can only verify the order and that they don't have anything to do with the 500 points posting. looks like mypoints is being sloppy.

Same with me It has been about 4 weeks since my order, but so far no 500 points
|
Same here. I emailed MyPoints 9/8 and still no reply.
|
I made 3 $10 purchases a month ago, and didn't get any points. I e-mailed MyPoints 2 weeks ago, and thus far received no reply. I've all but given up on getting 'em.
|
Well, My Points has stopped responding to my emails too. This doesn't look good. Perhaps there is a consumer organization who can help us? I spent a whole bunch of money based on their promise to give me 500 points each time I did.

Oh, and this is lovely, I tried sending a link to this thread to My Points CEO Steve Markowitz and got the folling response back from him:
"This account is disabled." |
I have received the points for a couple of the orders. Never automatically though. I have been emailing them ([email protected]) whenever the order is more than 7 days old and requesting the points. I copy the order confirmation email into the message, you can delete the name/ship to and items ordered, but be sure to include your email address, date, order number and amount. They are a bit random, sometimes i get a reply in a day and sometimes i get a random reply to say they are working on it/researching and will get back. If you dont hear back in 4 days, email again using the reference code from the autoreply of the original one you sent.
I think I have 3 emails pending now. don't give up, you definately are entitled to the points, and it shouldn't be too big a problem. I think more.com doesnt automatically keep track that you are from mypoints, so unless you tell mypoints you dont get the credit. I think mypoints is going through growing pains right now, hopefully they will improve. Perhaps notifying more.com that we are reducing our orders because we aren't getting the credits will prompt them to have a talk with mypoints. mypoints also has an 800 number, not sure what it is, perhaps you can look on the site and call and try with a real person. good luck |
Had BIG PROBLEMS http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif with Bonus Mail and have never been able to get them to change the account or my points over to MyPoints. They couldn't even do an e-mail change of address. Now that MyPoints has taken over BonusMail I'm still not getting any response to e-mail.
The points from "TalkCity" are posted but nothing else, and never an answer to an e-mail. When I go to the member area of MyPoints there is an error messaage about my e-mail address. I correct it and the next time the same error message is there. I deliberated about getting "snagged" by this again and will be interested to see if the points continue. |
You can also contact mypoints by phone and snail mail.

Thanks for the phone # Student, I will call them.

For Mypoints, please try one of these numbers I found on another board. Hopefully their telephone service is better than the email service...
1-888-262-4528 1-888-333-6260. If someone uses these and they work, pls let us know. tg |
Hi Everyone,
I finally got *one* of my 500 miles from More.com posted by MyPoints so there is hope. I am still working on all the others they owe me. I think it is like when we call MCI, it depends who gets your email to work on it at Mypoints. Maybe the ones that don't know what we are talking about just delete it. I have been emailing them every 4-5 days and noticed that if I do NOT use the reply function to their original email, that is when I got the points. Not sure if that matters but I thought I would mention it. Keith |
