I signed up for this over the weekend along with the Marriott & Alaska. It is 100% worth the sign-up fee. Again though only sign up if you plan on spending the the points. 60,000 points can go along way. If you are able to 'buy' and additional 40,000 you would have 2 nights in London PL. Which retails for over $600/night.

Honestly, most of these hotel programs are turning into a joke as far as 'tier' status is concerned for upgrades and points bonuses. It's a crapshoot, depending on the hotel you're staying at and what program you're with, but generally upgrades are not guaranteed. So it's not really a perk unless it's something you can count on to get all the time.

I did a little more digging and 30,000-ish points gets you about a $100 room...so this card is not even worth the annual fee (unless the fee is waived). The 60K bonus could be worth the app and the fee, depending on what hotels you stay at.

All in all, not a very good program. Which is a shame, since I generally like the IHG chain and there's a lot of HI's I frequent...

and nope, $70/10k points (IHG cash + points rate), the 60k points has a maximum value of $420 - $120 annual fee = $300 / 2 (EQ and Transunion hit) = $150 per hit and < $200 per hit requirement :D

Yeah, IHG are worth max 0.7 cents and even less, if you bought them during their sales or daily getaways.

IHG points are very lucrative if you can take advantage of the Pointsbreak promotion (5,000 points each reward night). 60,000 points can come out to 12 hotel rooms. If you manage to book rooms, conservatively at $100 each, you can get well over $1,200 in value.

Preferably I would like to earn miles in this preference:
1. United
2. SPG
3. Aeroplan

I live in Canada and I book mostly United flights. I already get pts from my cc and from the airlines. I am looking to maximize the shopping portals. Thanks.

When the point break program was first introduced, there were a lot of hotel options in both the US and Canada. Over the years the list of available hotels keeps getting shorter and shorter and I can rarely find a hotel in a big city.

The picking are getting thin with point break. One needs to grab needed property,if any suitable ones pop up.

My last PB deal was a getaway extended weekend at IC Cleveland for 5000IHG points. Spring 14

For this summer's extended family get-together I scored two suite for one week at Staybridge in Oakville. Summer 14

i think ive seen it for 15k a couple months ago, must of been recent upgrade to 30k. does anyone know when does offer expire + are you sure its FYF, lastly whats the history been like or is 30k new record?

EDIT2: hate to rain on parade but apparently a better offer has been out there for some time, basically 15k points + $300 travel credits with FYF, not sure if allowed to link rfd but need to be preapproved. going to read that thread but surely there is a way to rfd/FT found to get it http://forums.redflagdeals.com/scoti...prove-1391785/

The 30000 points offer on the website is NOT FYF...but better coz you get $150 worth extra points, but pay $99 annual fees.

The other offer 15k points PLUS $300 pre approved was a targeted pre-approved offer (i got it myself...:))......but the link above is a public offer for anyone who didnt get the pre approved targeted offer. Just think its better than the current one on the WIKI...
