Thanks, imverge.

She has two cards that are several years old, an SPG Amex from last year, and two cards in the last month. For the new cards, she'll make the spend required for the churn and then probably not a lot more.

Payment history has been solid.

Don't cancel anything especially the older cards.

If she can pay off the balance so that it reflects as ZERO before the statement cut-off date that would be even better as it will be reported on her credit file as $0 owing.

Have her apply for the loan as late as possible. That way more time has gone by and hopefully, a statement or two has been generated and updated with credit bureau which will only improve her score.

Once she has secured the car loan ... go ahead churn churn churn :p

Re: AC Conversion Card

Other forums are reporting that MBNA has begun charging a $7.50 cash advance fee on every transaction after July 20 or July 21. :eek:

I can verify that I've been charged by MBNA, too.

Will other credit card issuers follow suit? Hard to say.

As they should be, since it essentially IS a cash advance, isn't it?

Just an update - my GCR rebate posted on my account - waiting for it to clear before a chq is issued. :)

Also, applied for the Mrs and she got approved as well. :)

Yes, I've been charged the cash advance fee on all loads since July 21st. I saw the charges immediately on the 24th when they posted and called MBNA and was able to get the 2 days of cash advances that posted, credited back.

I called back on the 26th when the other 2 days of loads posted and they would no longer give me a credit for the newly posted cash advance fees. They cited that these were valid charges according to the cardholder agreement and that these were cash equivalent transactions.

yes sorry, I got it confused. Thanks. I blame all the recent TD commercials I see on TV about the no TD fee ATM.

Hi All,

I wasn't sure if I should ask this question in the Aeroplan forum or AMEX Canada 2017 forum so I thought I'd try here. In reference to the 35% Aeroplan transfer bonus from hotel points to Aeroplan, if I transfer the following SPG points with 5,000 SPG bonus per 20,000 points, are the corresponding amounts under Aeroplan correct?

SPG->Aeroplan:
20000 = 33750
40000 = 67500
60000 = 101250
80000 = 135000
100000 = 168750

Yes, those are the numbers that many bloggers are reporting.
Remember to instead consider transferring to Marriott's hotel & air programs.

Yeah, despite the nice bonus, transferring to Aeroplan seems rather disappointing - considering their impending demise.

I'll be transferring all SPG to Marriott. Such a great value for me!!!

Anyone know if TD Infinite Aeroplan has a current FYF offer ?

Funny you ask, I've looked around and it doesn't look like it. It's been 6 months for both of us so ready to reapply but I'm not spending a dime.

I just booked a trip to Europe for 230000 points and $600 for 2 in J with 3 stops.
Like you said, its all depends on our needs at the time. I did not need to convert at this time and will be using hotel points I have for stay at stops. If I had shortage of points I would have transfer to Aeroplan and pay for hotels.
