This survey will randomly appear for the next week, within a few sections of our WebFlyer site. Hopefully it will not be an inconvenience during this time frame. We are attempting to retrieve valuable information that will assist us in meeting the needs of our audience. Thank you for your patience with this survey. We appreciate your participation.

LI DEBBIE Aug 16, 1999 12:42 pm

I took the survey. Seems the least I could do. Looks like they are getting some Americans.

Schutzee Aug 16, 1999 12:46 pm

I just took survey today also.

QuietLion Aug 16, 1999 1:19 pm

Just got it (twice!)

QuantumLeap Aug 16, 1999 1:25 pm

I just got it for every FT page I opened!

rhw88 Aug 16, 1999 1:35 pm

Hello everyone in surveyland! I got it and took it - glad to provide my input/data. Or my data input, I should say! I was pinged several times after that to take the survey again, and then it stopped. <quiet>

dgolds Aug 16, 1999 1:59 pm

I got it, took it, then got it again and again and again every time I brought up a new page in FlyerTalk.

Please fix it or make it go away!

rhw88 Aug 16, 1999 2:21 pm

Since this is my industry (Internet) I am providing this for those interested in the underlying company:

NEW ONLINE RESEARCH PRODUCT DEBUTS

SurveyBuilder.com, a product from San Francisco-based Informative, Inc., is a new tool to help e-merchants find out about their customer's habits and preferences. It is an automated service that enables online vendors to measure a number of elements involved in their customers' transaction habits, and can be customized. It can be deployed by vendors directly from Informative's Web site. Current clients using the product include auction site Onsale, golf-related site chipshot.com, and NextCard, a company that provides instant credit approval for online shoppers.

I start to hate that survey-server - he/it intervenes before loading any page and slows the process terrible down. I quite now for today!

Eugene Aug 16, 1999 2:38 pm

Filled it too...

doc Aug 16, 1999 2:42 pm

I never got it but it still comes up trying to contact the "surveydata.builder" whatever, and slows down considerably the loading of each and every page, every time! And again I'm not even taking it or being selected!

Catman Aug 16, 1999 3:02 pm

I finally got the little pop up window to take the survey.

I have to say that system has really slowed down my computer... so maybe a suggestion is to post it as a separate thread and let us answer it at our leasure.

It's tough waiting for 2-5 MINUTES for one page to load on Flyertalk.

Surveys are fine, but time (especially when checking this from WORK) is limited.

dg1 Aug 16, 1999 3:25 pm

Accessing data.surveybuilder.com every page access is REALLY slowing down my access time. I'll grin and bear it for today, but I know that it's not worth it and if it keeps going I'm going to stop reading the site for at least a week. A survey is fine (I don't take them personally) but this is a system resource hog...

Punki Aug 16, 1999 3:25 pm

What is this, a case of sexual discrimination? I haven't seen it at all.

Michael at WebFlyer Aug 16, 1999 3:56 pm

FlyerTalkers,

This is to let you all know that we greatly appreciate your help with our survey and with your continued patience over the problems that such surveys sometimes create.

For those of you who have the problem of the "invitation" window continualy poping up, even after you've taken the survey, I would encourage you to hold your shift key down and hit your reload/refresh button. Baring that I would clear your browsers cache.

These suggestions seemed to have helped at least one individual see, http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/Foru...ML/000069.html , thank you beckles.

As for who sees the survey, it's entirely random and we have very little control over that.

If you continue to have problems please let us know and we'll see how we can further assist you.

ThanX...

TribeFlyer Aug 16, 1999 4:29 pm

I was asked to take the survey as well. (again, and again, and again...)

doc Aug 16, 1999 5:47 pm

Stragely, earlier when I went to sign off FT, the invitation finally window came up but then it failed to access the server repeatedly and finally, when it seemed it had, it produced a window with nothing- like a Seinfeld episode -nothing!

On the bright side- it's working fine now- nrmal speed!

MileKing Aug 16, 1999 6:10 pm

Did the survey and it popped up multiple times. Favorite question has to be #10 - Where are you currently accessing the Internet? No choice to for "hotel room" so I had to answer "other". Odd that a frequent traveller survey wouldn't include hotel, airplane, airport, or back of taxicab as responses.

indogulf Aug 16, 1999 9:39 pm

got it once, twice, thrice, etc., etc.!!

ffhound Aug 17, 1999 3:11 am

Well I've just been through most of the new postings today and hey - no survey!

Is it becuase I'm Australian?

cheers Peter

shadow Aug 17, 1999 7:53 am

I also went through most and never got it.

geo1004 Aug 17, 1999 9:03 am

I was asked to take the survey and it popped right up. Took about a minute to complete it and move on. No problems here... http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Scott the flier Aug 17, 1999 9:45 am

It came up for me and when I clicked yes all I got was a blank survey screen. I clicked close and everything slowed down to a crawl and I use a T1 line at work so I'd hate to try it at home. Never did finish the survey as it never asked me again http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif.

Cheers Scott

MilesChick Aug 17, 1999 9:47 am

Thanks once again for your patience. Our survey folks were experiencing some technical problems yesterday which we believe are now fixed. The survey is now only located on the main menu of FlyerTalk if you are interested in taking it. It can also be found in the BonusConnect area if you are really eager to catch it.

doc Aug 17, 1999 10:11 am

Sorry to say this but just for your info, perhaps not ALL problems are fixed (12:00 noon EST, 8/17/99). Again, when it (survey) came up, no window appeared but finally (again as I left FT) an empty window appeared. In fact it "locked up my computer" so I eventually rebooted to clear things up!

uncle1k Aug 17, 1999 10:31 am

I completed the survey yesterday.

Michael at WebFlyer Aug 17, 1999 10:31 am

Thank you for letting us know this Doc. We apologize for the inconvenience that this has caused you.

For the record has anyone else had this particular problem?

Baze Aug 17, 1999 10:41 am

I have to admit, I was just asked to do the survey. With all the bad I have heard about it I declined to take it. I would have taken it if there were no problems with it. If the problems do get fixed I would be happy to take the survey.

MarkB Aug 17, 1999 11:52 am

Yeah, I had it dozens of times.

Catman Aug 17, 1999 12:07 pm

FlyerTalk is acting almost at normal speed and the survey has NOT popped up every time a move from thread to thread.

As I said, it's a good idea BUT I wish there was another way to take the survey wtihout it being loaded into the FlyerTalk system.

philforest Aug 17, 1999 2:08 pm

Please don't take this as an invitation.
I haven't been asked to take the survey yet, and from what I've read here, I hope I'm not asked.

doc Aug 17, 1999 5:53 pm

Appears to be working normally now. Only would note that it appears to access data.survey builder and then the survey (if it should) does not appear (which is fine by me) since the speed etc is quite normal. Thanks again!

Tute84 Aug 17, 1999 6:51 pm

I got this one too yesterday.

Michael at WebFlyer Aug 18, 1999 1:34 pm

Oooo, Ouch. So many problems. I'd like to apologize one more time for all of the problems that we've had and to let you all know that we beleive we have it all under control now...knock on wood.

For those of you who might still be interested in the survey you can now find it at the following locations:

http://talk.webflyer.com
http://www.webflyer.com/bonusconnect/bonusconnect.htm
http://www.webflyer.com/@10/fr10.htm
http://www.webflyer.com/@accounts/fracct.htm

Please note: The survey is still on a random timer and so you will need to hit "shift+refresh" several times in order to get the survey.

I took the survey this AM. It looked to be well designed, although I thought they overdid the listed categories for education. I would be very surprised if they could get enough counts in each category for significance testing.
