https://applynowdc1.chase.com/FlexAp...p.do?SPID=DWKB

Fairmont Visa Signature Card
2 Complimentary Nights with Breakfast for 2
Automatic Premier Status
Airport Lounge Access with 2 Free Lounge Visits
No foreign transaction fee

Haven't tried it myself, couldn't find anything on Flyertalk about it. It's not on the public list of hotel credit cards either.

ricski64 Apr 3, 2012 9:36 pm

Is this available for Canadians ??

longhorn11 Apr 3, 2012 9:36 pm

Nice 1st post! Where did you find this? I wonder how many others are out there.

Btw - Welcome to FT!

jethro Apr 3, 2012 10:46 pm

Interesting.....Does anyone know anything about this card?

x712xdamx Apr 3, 2012 11:38 pm

Wild find!! I'm not sure if I've ever stayed in a Fairmont hotel to be honest. I never pictured them to be as nice as Hyatts though so 2 free nights seems kind of weak.

longhorn11 Apr 3, 2012 11:42 pm

I wonder if the Fairmont forum followers even know their hotel has a Chase Visa. Google has absolutely no record of this card anywhere, even Fairmont's site doesn't mention it.

Fairmonts can be extremely nice. The Fairmont in Seattle is stunning as is the Fairmont in Boston (it's the Copley Plaza). The Plaza in NYC used to be a Fairmont as well before they sold it and it's still managed by them. All across Canada's major cities they have some incredible properties as well.

leftpinky Apr 4, 2012 3:48 am

Fairmont's are top notch, actually. The one SF is great and there is one in Kenya I am eying for a future safari destination....best lodge in Africa, supposedly.

leftpinky Apr 4, 2012 3:51 am

I wonder if it is for any Fairmont in the world? The one I am interested in is around $600-700/night. Masa Mari

jjmiller69 Apr 4, 2012 7:20 am

Great find , this showed up today on "The Boarding Area".

The signup bonus is 2 free Fairmont nights, including breakfast for 2.

Cardholders get free ‘Premier’ (first elite tier) status in Fairmont’s Presidents Club, which usually requires 5 stays or 10 nights. The card doesn’t, however, credit you with those stays/nights an thus doesn’t help towards Platinum status. Premier earns 750 miles per stay instead of the standard 500, receives 1 room upgrade and 1 suite upgrade certificate each year, a $50 dining or spa certificate, and some other sundry benefits.

The card also comes with lounge access with two free visits, I’m assuming it’s a basic Priority Pass membership, and no foreign currency transaction fees.

Earning based on spend is “Fairmont rewards for every purchase” but I haven’t found details on what the reward for spend looks like, since Fairmont Presidents Club isn’t a point-based program which generates free nights.

Definitely a card to add to a future churn.

Link not working for me anymore. Is it for anyone else?

Link on Boarding Area is also no longer available. Is Chase cancelling offers today or what?

I'm guessing they weren't quite ready to launch it yet. I wouldn't be surprised to see a more pronounced launch in the near future.

Jasper2009 Apr 4, 2012 9:23 am

Very interesting. Iīve never heard of a Faimont affilitiated CC, so Iīm thinking this may either be a card from bygone days or a card to be launched in the near future.

The two free nights offer sounds like cardholders would get two so-called Ovation certs which entitle you to two nights in a particular hotel category (IIRC Fairmont hotels are divided into four Ovation categories) incl. breakfast with no capacity control and very few black-out dates. If thatīs the case, itīs an excellent deal. If I had to guess, Iīd think the certs apply to all Fairmont hotels except the Savoy and the Plaza (as those are only "managed by Fairmont"), but thatīs really only a guess right now.

What will be much more interesting to see is how they design the rewards for continuous spend as Fairmont doesnīt have a points-based program.
1 free night for every $25000 of CC spending? Will they introduce some kind of artificial CC points which can redeemed for F&B vouchers, free nights, activities etc.?

Definitely an interesting development...though Iīm not sure Iīm too happy about it myself...

FauxFlyer Apr 4, 2012 12:07 pm

I stayed at the Fairmont Orchid in Kona for my honeymoon. That hotel is paradise! Tropical setting, private beach, 4 star restaurants, golf course, etc. etc. I still get gitty thinking about that place. ^

There were other codes. All have stopped working.

I agree. I never thought I'd be one of those elites who complains about a devaluation in benefits because everyone has status now, but it appears to have happened.

mattolo Apr 4, 2012 5:46 pm

So did anyone actually apply for this card while the link was active? I'm wondering what will happen. Will it be a wasted credit pull?

multiple people have, were approved, and had the 60k points confirmed

Edit: thought I was in the Ink Bold thread, sorry!

Why does Chase have all the great cards? Seriously, some of the nicest hotels you've ever seen are the Fairmont properties in Canada. Chateau Lake Louise. Banff Springs. Jasper Park Lodge. Heaven on earth. And most of the rest of them are like castles. But again...why does it have to be another Chase card??? I've got 4 since the Fall already--how many more will they give me?!

I feel you! Two out of three best bonus cards are Chase nowadays! To answer your question I was recently approved for my seventh Chase card, but it took a lot of explaining and a very long time on the phone.

And the result? There are 6, yes that's SIX other Chase cards (with this one) I"m craving but won't be able to grab (sigh).

This is the page to watch (setup a google or page change alert)- I figure their branded cc link would be offered here.

philemer Apr 5, 2012 8:55 pm

Since this card does not exist yet I'm going to close this thread. We'll reopen it if the card is introduced.

philemer Apr 11, 2012 2:26 pm

Now opened. Details to follow.

Jasper2009 Apr 11, 2012 2:32 pm

In the meantime Iīve posted the info provided to me by an anonymous source in the Fairmont forum. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/fairm...ture-card.html

Can't you just cancel a few or do you use all of them?

Iīd almost be 100% positive you could use the two free nights at the Fairmont Empress. Based on the info Iīve received youīll be able to redeem points for ovation certs (of which there are four main categories; A-D), and Iīd assume the two free nights for signing up would also be Ovation certs (though possibly slightly more restrictive, e.g. Ovation cert C category).

The Empress currently is in the lowest Ovation cert category (A), so Iīd be very surprised if you couldnīt easily redeem the free nights there.

Thanks !
Parents spent their honeymoon there in 1950,
this could support a repeat event !

Now I have to do my homework on Ovation Certs ...@:-),
particularly if there is some way to "support" an upgrade.

Yes, you can upgrade stays booked using Ovation certs by appliying room or suite upgrade certs. (see the master FAQ in the Fairmont forum for details)

However, upgrade certs are non-transferable except to immediate family (incl. parents) if youīre a Platinum member.

There are also Ovation certs which book into higher room categories or even suites, but I have no idea whether those would be part of the CC deal. (Iīd guess not, but you never know)

Btw, rates at the Empress can be very affordable (at least for Fairmont standards), you just need to follow the various promos, sign up for the monthly Great Rates Great Dates newsletter etc. Iīve seen rates for standard room as low as $99/night during off-season and quite often you can find a rate in the $150-$200 range.

Hey Jasper,

Do you know which catergory the Fairmont Masai Mara is? I tried a google search and couldn't seem to find anything about it. thanks

http://www.fairmont.com/marasafariclub

Edit: did a search for ovation certs and it came up. Looks like catergory B, so that's good news since the hotel runs at least $600/night for two people.

CFFrost Apr 11, 2012 9:29 pm

I wonder if Chase will figure out a way to add Fairmont as a UR transfer partner. If they don't create a points program, it would have to be X points = 1 cert., which is different than their other partners.

It is indeed a category B property, however Iīm not 100% sure how the ovation certs would work at the Masai Mara Safari Club.

The Masai Mara typically has two kind of rates:

1) overnight accommodation only (usually in the $100-$300 range, park entrance fees not included)
2) rates which include overnight accommodation, three meals and two daily game drives (and possibly some other stuff) which tend to be in the $600-$1000 range

Iīm no expert on the Ultimate Rewards program, but unless something has changed you can already redeem UR points for Fairmont Ovation certs. At least when they ran the 100k points sign-up bonus that was one of the better redemption options (along with Fairmont and Hyatt GCs).

The same is true for many countriesī AMEX MR program and many mileage program, however itīs rarely a good deal with those programs IMO.

You can always use Chase's travel booking engine to book flights and hotels and pay with points - and you can presently buy Fairmont gift cards in a similar manner as well. I haven't seen anything about buying ovation certs (though I'm not saying it isn't there somewhere).

My real question is if they would find a way to incorporate it more succinctly - in the way Chase currently allows 1:1 points transfer to a number of partners (united, hyatt, etc). All of their credit card partners (to my knowledge) allow this transfer. Korean air is the only transfer partner that they allow direct transfer to who they are not the affinity card provider for.

I'm not familiar with Fairmont at all - but since they don't have a "points" program per se in the way that other airline and hotel programs do, I am curious if they would find a way to streamline this into UR as a "transfer" partner of sorts.

Are you sure you don't mean CapitalOne Rewards? They briefly offered Ovation certificates as well as Fairmont and Hyatt GCs.

I'm not that familiar with UR either, but this sounds a lot like CapitalOne shortly after last year's 100k bonus.

Youīre right CapitalOne no longer offers ovation certs. For some reason I had Chase Ultimate Rewards listed as offering both ovation certs and GCs in my spreadsheet, but I canīt seem to find it anywhere on the website, so maybe indeed Iīm wrong and mixed up the two.
