Elite phone numbers
I am wondering whether we can compose a list of elite level exclusive phone numbers.

last years the oldies on this board agreed not to do that. We thought it wouldn't be fair.

Seriously though, I don't think it is a good idea to be giving out elite desk phone numbers publicly - otherwise what would be the point of it being for elites? Generally elites have earned the privilege of exclusive phone numbers and desks to handle to their calls. So it would'nt be fair to give that access away to anyone for free. Interestingly, AA screens its Executive Platinum numbers when they call - before you get put through to a representative you have to say your AAdvantage number at the prompt - the system then checks your status and if it is Executive Platinum then routes the call to a rep and displays your profile on the rep's screen. (Rudi - you beat me to it!! I guess I spent too long composing the reply). [This message has been edited by mgm (edited 07-06-1999).] |
Sorry..that's fine. I was just wondering. I guess you are both right. I just thought no body mentioned about this.

Well, I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you. Sorry.

Delta also screens calls on its Elite line. You have to enter your SkyMiles number and PIN before you can get a Delta representative.
I find it annoying that I have to enter 14 numbers before I am allowed to talk to someone to make reservations. Another reason I dislike DL. |
dgolds,
My observation: If the choice comes down to punching in 14 numbers (that I know by heart) to access immediate service, or waiting on hold for 10 minutes to avoid punching in numbers, it is no contest. At my age you have to take all the exercise you can get. http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
I much prefer punching in my 10 number Medallion number + 4 number pin on the keypad to having to dictate it to them. When you punch it in it not only screens your call, but it also passes that info on to the CSR so when they answer the phone they already have your information on their computer. It takes me maybe five seconds to punch in those 14 numbers at this point ...
BTW, it is not required that you punch in your number and PIN on the DL Special Services line, it is just an option that you can select or not. |
dgolds:
I don't really mind punching in the numbers (if it's a credit card call, I've already punched in 250 numbers). When I'm connected, the agent knows who I am and what my most recent flight arrangements are. I think that's pretty good service. Phil |
NO WAY!!!!

I've noticed with Continentals Elite Priority Line that sometimes it is quicker to get throgh to their regular number (800) 523-FARE than to go through the Priority Line. Has anyone else had similar experiences?
|
I don't think it's a hassle at all punching in the 14 digits. The only annoying thing is that a lot of the time, the agents don't use the membership information that pops up on their screens and ask for your name again which would seems to defeat one of the purposes of the exercise. But, you're right, it's far better than staying on hold forever on the regular telephone number which I have had the misfortune of dialing when I don't have my membership card around.

The Elite numbers always are and always should be faster than the lower level phone numbers. I worked hard, on mostly my own money, to reach Platinum Medallion on DL and hope no one gives the numbers out on Webflyer or any other public forum. And I have no problem inputting my ff number ... it usually gives me better service. To those that don't want to enter the number, then just follow the prompts, and you will still get help, but will have to verbally give the agent your FF number and add to the time you are on the call.

Once...I did by mistake post a number I should not have. Would not and will not make the same mistake 2X.
But as far as using number prompts. NO! NO! NO! I may Xgen or whatever, but I want and demand a live voice on the end of my phone (unless I am just checking an account balance or something). I don't even like it when UA wants my account # before I make a reservation. OMNI: How many non elites actually get away calling the elite number and sucessfully get what they want? Not many I bet. |
I don't mind punching in my account and PIN before I get a human voice - I have them on speed-dial for both phones I usually call from (just like i have the service center number on speed-dial in the first place).
