Airlines promise better service

Industry agrees to voluntary ‘passenger-bill-of-rights’

WASHINGTON, June 17 — The airline industry responded Thursday to growing complaints about air travel, offering a voluntary plan to satisfy the public and angry members of Congress. Its voluntary “passenger-bill-of-rights” promises the lowest prices available, permits passengers to cancel a ticket without penalty, and notifies passengers quickly of flight delays or cancellations. But at least one senator is calling the new plan a lot of hot air.

Like the politician said... a lot of hot air. I'll believe it when I actually see the airlines actually practicing what they preached at that news conference.

At the risk of sounding skeptical, this reminds me of the promises my teenager makes when I've reached the end of my rope over her misadventures. Those promises sound good for the moment, but the follow through doesn't always happen as hoped.
