Cancel AA business Card?

I have a business AA card which I applied for the 75K mileage, now my Mom also applied for the business AA card which was denyed. The reason was that they will only give out 1 Business card per business (this is what they told me), so the agent told me that I would have to cancel my current business card in order for them to review my mom's appication again. So I went ahead and cancelled my business card.

My question now is, can they now take back my mileage from my account? The card was only open for about 5-6 months. Thanks

I have the same card and just cancelled it. There's no time requirement - only a monetary spend requirement. If you already have the miles they can't claw them back.

Thanks for the information and quick response. Yes, I have already spent the required funds and the miles have already been credited to my account. Hope they won't take them back.

I did not know you could not have more than 1 business cards through Citi. Has this always been the case?

Not sure if it always been this way or not however my mom's application was denyed because I already had a business card.

1 per EIN (or SSN on sole prop.)

Different biz's with different EIN's can each have one.

False, they can claw miles back.

Since you are the only one stating an opinion contrary to what 'ALL' others have experienced, the onus is upon you to provide proof (or at least a real tangible example to support your claim).

Please do so, I am curious.

My wife applied for a Business card, and I already ahd one on the same business,

She got the card and has the miles also...

Later she applied for Citi Amex, we did receive the card in fact we got 2 one AMEX and a Visa, but only got 5,000 miles for the 2 cards...

Posted for info only on the new game in town..

+1 I'd also be curious about whether they can revoke the bonus mileage credits. I can't recall all the previous posts in other threads and forums re this, but I was under the impression that once you have fulfilled the requirements the miles are yours to keep.

Slightly different situation, I have AA mastercard business, which I do use for business, the annual fee came up, $75, so I called and asked this to be waived (it has been done in the past), they could not waive it, but offered me 10K bonus miles for $5k spend in 6 months, I agreed.

So has anyone canceled a biz card and signed up to get miles again? Not sure if they are churnable or not. Would guess not, but reaching for any way possible to get more bonuses.

If you are asking if the idea is possible, I believe Chase has in the past. To the best of my knowledge, Citi never has. Other than claw miles back, a card company could maybe charge you fair market value of the points, or something like that.

But as others have mentioned, Citi has a well documented history of never doing this through all the heavy churning of the Citi AA cards in the past.

There isn't much of a reason to cancel quickly now if you can't get another one.

But Chase also specifically says so in their T&C. I have seen no such notice for Citi, which correlates with the group's experience.
