That didn't happen with me. Doing the 30-day trial will disqualify you from the promotion, though. Not sure what to tell you to do.

Just saw my miles added to my account. 2,500 whoopee! :D Thanks!

The system see's you as a past member, same thing happened to me. It had my old address from years ago and even when I tried to sign up with a new address/phone number, etc it still sent me to the free trial. It's a welcome back trial too...

This is up for Delta now at 2500 miles, too. Unfortunately, I keep getting the 30-day trial screen (previous subscription) even though I cleared cookies and tried some tricks to get around it.

The funny thing is that T&C say to enter a Dividend Miles number . . .for miles to post to your SkyMiles account! Mmm. . . maybe that is the trick I need to get my SkyPesos here!

Log out, and clear cookies if you wish, though I don't think they're detecting dupes with cookies.

If you want to make sure you aren't detected as a duplicate, make sure you do all of the following:

1) Use your real name (there's no way they de-dupe on this, as there are probably hundreds of Tim Browns, all different people).

2) Use a backup/different email address than you used before. If you don't have a spare that you are sure you didn't use previously, then just create a new one. Takes just a couple of minutes with Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, etc., and is free.

3) Use a different street address than you used before. If you aren't going to have them mail you DVDs, then it shouldn't matter what address you use *as long as* it passes the address verification check (if they do one) AND it hasn't been used by someone else in the past. Know an old couple down the street who would never bother with NetFlix? Well, there ya go!

4) Use a different phone number than you used before. You could make one up, but probably best to make it unique.

5) Use a different birthday and security questions/answers than you used before. If you are really worried about account access later, record them, but it really shouldn't matter if all you plan to do is cancel once you get the bonus points.

6) Use a different credit card/payment than you did before. If you used a credit card the first time, consider PayPal this time. If you don't have multiple credit cards, pay a friend $10 to charge $8 to theirs!

7) Don't use the same FF# from the same airline you've used in the past. That's a sure way they can detect dupes (not sure if they do, but would be easy/logical for them to). If you've received a Delta bonus before, do AA this time, for example.

Anything I missed? I don't think you need to go nearly to this extent... I didn't, and I've been able to get multiple bonuses. I just wanted to do a run-through because there are multiple people claiming that the system keeps recognizing them and I'm sure that if you follow all my steps that would solve your problem.

Are you sure? I just signing up for DL miles, and took screen shots to be careful. Looking back, it says:

Welcome, SkyMiles member!
Please continue your Netflix sign-up.
You will earn miles once you become a paying Netflix member. Please allow 8- 10 weeks from sign-up and qualification for miles to post to your SkyMiles account.

This is timely. Just the other day, I had gone online to sign-up for Netflix. However, I temporarily postponed the registration because I discovered that I first needed to order a replacement power adapter for family Wii game console. The Wii system is important because I plan to use the Netflix streaming video feature for movies, etc.

Thanks to this post, I can now subscribe to Netflix (which I was going to do no matter what) plus yield myself 2,500 miles. :D

What I said was specific to the AA promo, not Delta. The AA promo states that you cannot get the free trial period.

maccoinnich Mar 16, 2011 2:21 pm

I see. Given that it's Netflix paying for the miles, I assumed their T&Cs would have been the same for all airlines.

KaiserG13 Mar 16, 2011 4:19 pm

Has anyone used the Delta Netflix offer and NOT gotten the free trial screen?

I have done it with multiple computers and Skymiles numbers and still get the trial screen every time. I noticed that Delta only has the old Netflix offer for 1500 miles on their website and not the new 2500 mile one. Maybe with the 2500 mile offer you have to do the trial and then start paying after the first month and then get the miles. I don't want to sign up for the trial and not be able to get the miles. I put the link to the 2500 offer below. It would be interesting to know if everyone is getting the trial screen or just me.

I kept getting the trial screen for Delta, too, on two different computers. But per the quote in#46, I'm encouraged that the miles will post after I qualify (first billing period). I went ahead and signed up with another CC and address.

The other nice thing is that I've never seen a free 30-day trial before; when I first signed up years ago it was for two weeks, and all of the offers out there in every which corner are two weeks.

superking Apr 12, 2011 12:56 pm

Do free trials qualify? or only paid trials?

So I have to wait until 30 days(free trial) plus 1-2 weeks(paid memberships) for mileages to get posted?

Thanks

So no free trial offer and getting the miles as well. Miles for me posted very quickly, I think less than a week after I signed up.

I signed up for Delta 2500 offer and it showed me the trial screen but i was charged immediately. Its almost 3 weeks and miles didn't show up yet.

I used paypal to avoid CC identification.

For those wondering if you can get the netflix free and the miles, the answer is: YES (at least for Delta). They billed my card on Friday after a one month free trial, and the miles hit my account today.

Any Good NetFlix Bonus Miles Offer?

which program has the best yield of bonus points for joing NetFlix?

I got 4000 pts from United for joining and using my MP VIsa...but I since canceled that card for my wife....so trolling for another NetFlix offer...

AAUSTEX May 11, 2011 4:24 pm

There might be a decent AA offer on May 13th. www.aa.com/aadvantage30th. Otherwise, there is 2,500 AA miles via this link:https://aa.netflix.com/offer.jsp?src=nflxaaFBSE0111

kaiotes May 13, 2011 11:35 am

offer is 3k miles

I never received my United miles for the sign up promo. Should I email United or Netflix to resolve this?

The same thing happened to me. I would call Netflix CS first to see what's going on. They'll be able to tell you if you qualified in the first place and if they sent over all the info to the FF program you signed up under. When I called, they said everything looked fine on their end and they sent all the necessary info over to United. United said to call Netflix back and I did. Netflix opened up an inquiry and the matter was resolved in 2 days with the 4000 miles posting to my account 3 days later "as of" the date I actually signed up. My problem lasted 10 weeks since the T&C says that the miles may take something like 8-12 weeks to post. What I did so I didn't have to pay the monthly fee after the first month was put a hold on my account which can be as long as 3 months I think. Good luck.

milesmomma Jul 22, 2011 4:20 pm

Don't need address or phone #

You do not need an address or phone # when you sign up now unless you want DVD's mailed to you. If you choice the instant streaming option you will not be asked for anything but your name, FF #, credit card number, yr of birth, sex.

Should be able to easily receive 1 offer for each FF program. I have already receive several. I think I will do them all now. It's really a good deal for the miles.

[hijack] f Netflix and their "let's just double your rate after all these years policy changes. [/hijack]

Correct. Delta's promotion included 1-month free trial and 2500 miles.
After registering I called in and the NetFlix rep confirmed both apply, although he didn't know if the miles were coming after activation or after first month of paid subscription. I'll probably cancel shortly thereafter due to the recent NetFlix price increase.

I am currently a member of Netflix and already got AA miles a few months back. Would like to sign up my mom who actually wants the service but wonder if I could sign up under my own name (to get another bonus) but with her address? Anybody been successful in getting around this first time customer thing?

eknock007 Aug 1, 2011 12:30 pm

I signed up on Thursday 7/28 through UA link provided on this thread. I signed up for the streaming service @$7.99/month and they required no address. Today 8/1, 4000 UA miles showed up in my account. Wow, only 3 days for the miles to post after sign up. I will cancel at the end of the first month.I think I am going to try and get some Delta or AA miles next.
