More airfare increases!
According to USA Today, CO, AA, NW, and TW raised the cost of leisure airfares by 4% yesterday. To date, leisure airfares have increased by 11%.
With all these fare increases, am I alone in noting that the quality of US carriers' quality of service have gone down in the past several years?

Did everyone match the increases? There was some question as to whether DL would match them ...

There was a Bloomberg story this morning that I read in the LA Times. The increase seems to be holding:

It seems quality has declined steadily for the last 15 years! The good news is that perhaps the service decline may be bottoming out- after all, how much farther down can it go!
Does this however, mean that the stock market is topping out? It's been rising steadily for the last 15 years!

Quality of service will continue to decline until people stop flying. That's not likely to happen in the near future. We're dealing with an industry that can move people from Washington, DC to Atlanta in an hour and a half. You can drive it in 10-12 hours. Where's the competition? We're dealing with a monopoly. Monopolies can set their prices. When air travel was deregulated, any advantage to the consumer went out the window.
