We dont know because there has not been reports on actual ticketing of a domestic award.

Booked flights for next summer using the companion voucher and was required to use my BA Visa to pay the taxes/fees, and was also told that I would have to show the card upon check-in.

FYI, I just took the BA web site to the final payment screen for two RT award tickets on AA from EWR-DFW (non-stop). Total cost was 50k BA miles and $10.

I'm adding a data point. I made a redemption today for a one way TPAC trip on AA. The flight is originated from the far east, and tax/fee would've been ~$150 as quoted by BA agent but ~$30 if book online.

While the phone agent was able to find a connecting flight from ORD to my home city, I couldn't find the domestic leg online from ba.com. Nevertheless, since the price difference in tax/fee is almost equal to paying cash for the domestic leg (and I'd get EQM for paying cash), I decided to book online for the international portion only. I already have the e-ticket issued by BA and have also changed seat assignment (using AA's website).

Why don't we put the BA booking fee posts in another thread and keep this one on the stated topic.

Couple of questions:

1) Required to use a BA Visa or your BA visa?

2) Did you do this over the phone? I'm wondering whether there's equivalent web messaging for online bookings using the 241. Given that most of us check in online I'm struggling to imagine they'd be asking to see a credit card at the bag drop.

I just wrote to Chase via secure message about this point and they sent the following response:

Once the companion ticket voucher is posted to your
Executive Club account with British Airways, it is yours
to keep and use regardless of the status of the credit
card account. The voucher will not be forfeited upon
closure of this credit card account.

Have a flight booked for my wife and I in Dec and ~50k points remaining. Can I cancel the card and not impact either of these? Her ticket was not a companion ticket.

Thanks.

K nm, per Carmen (M6) at Executive Club you do not lose your points upon card cancellation nor do you lose the booking (obv) You may have to show your card upon check-in but it does not need to be active.

Thanks for the info Digable... We were getting ready to cancel our cards, and had the same concern since we have a trip coming up in Feb '11

I just checked a flight from Minneapolis to Hawaii and it is just a $5 tax per flight. Total of $20 for two of us using BA miles for AA flight.

People also need to think twice about cancelling because of the new benefit starting this month - no foreign transaction fee!

My flight from DFW to Vancouver was $7 on BA miles.
Domestic - $5

I still have 220K to spend. Im thinking Barbados for spring break.

I booked 4 RT domestic AA tickets last week for a total cost of $20 + 100K BA miles.
