Miles for Nothing
Does anyone know of ways to earn miles without spending any money. No credit cards, or purchase links. It doesn't matter how few miles. I have found one way, with erewards. But I am curious if anyone knows other creative ways. Thanks!

Sure, break your foot onboard, sabotage ICE, cause the aircraft to be switched to a non-A380, give the Chauffeur the wrong address then claim he didn't turn up, have someone steal your seat, and then send a complaint to Customer Services.

http://www.e-miles.com/alaskapartner That's as creative as I can get late on a Friday night. |
Is erewards a good way to earn miles. I'm skeptical on anything that is free.

There are often promotions that give you miles for:
1. Signing up to receive AA marketing emails. 2. Signing up for the AA eshoping emails. 3. Watching a Bose headphone online ad. Most of these are detailed in threads in the AA forum. There are ideas in the following thread, though most may involve $ or have expired: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ameri...solidated.html Check AA.com's Connections page: http://www.aa.com/viewPromotionDetai...&_locale=en_US |

- Receive your statement by e-mail, 1000 miles; - If you get asked to participate in an AF/KLM survey, number of miles vary; - Incidentally AF/KLM will have prize contests, last one being with Hertz giving you the option to win 1.000.000 (?) miles and a few other small prizes. Gajan |

you can also play games at clubbing.com
for an immense amount of tedium, you can get 4000 + 3000 + 2500 + 1000 +250 + 100 + 500 miles. |
We can probably can say this much: with six Frequent Flyer Programs, you will find yourself hard pressed - particularly with the trickle of miles from free sources - to ever use them. 30 miles or whatever from a quarterly or so opinionplace survey will take several lifetimes to count for much, never mind a 25,000 mile flight.
I suspect most here would agree that building up a "nest egg" of miles requires strategic thinking, and a bit of focus - difficult at best with six FFPs. You might want to think of a credit card, paid off monthly, dining with a FFP related dining program (AAdvantage Dining for AA, merely register, sign up for e-mails, register a debit or credit card, dine at affiliated restaurants, earn miles,) etc. This thread will likely be allowed here, because you imply you are an AAdvantage member looking for ways of earning AAdvantage miles - but if you were merely shopping for a generous airline or general ideas, TravelBuzz! is a good forum for that kind of general discussion. |

Top 6 Hard to Accumulate FF Miles Programs
Did my Ukraine International Airlines or BalticAir Frequent Flyer Programs make the top six? You just gotta get their credit cards and fly the route less travelled.:D

a few sites
Free ways to earn miles can be found at some of these sites:
http://www.freefrequentflyermiles.com/index.htm http://www.milemaven.com/ http://www.frequentflyerbonuses.com/ http://www.smartertravel.com/frequent-flyer/ http://www.frugaltravelguy.com/ and a new one thanks to frugaltravelguy http://boardingarea.com/blogs/tmtravelworld/ these are my other sources besides FT for milage and points earning happy reading |
Free miles? Probably not what you are asking, but before I do just about anything, I check to see if I can get miles for it. I consider this "free" since I was going to do it anyway.
My best example was getting Lasik. I was going to do it. Searched and found that Delta gave 25k miles for a surgery (technically 5k for the free analysis and 20k for the surgery). I lucked out that it was through the same center that offered me 15% discount due to partnership with my eye insurance company. Off the top of my head, things I would check for free miles before doing: Opening a bank account Changing cable/satellite provider Opening an investment account Getting a mortgage Refinancing a mortgage Getting any subscription service (Netflix, etc.) Renting a Car Buying a Car Obviously bonus miles are the least of my worries in some of those items, but it never hurts to see if someone will give you miles to do what you were already going to do. Just like when I got me peepers cut! |

try clubbing.com
It is Club Bing, where you can play games, earn points, then buy miles with the points. It used to be called Live Search Club, tons of posts on this. |
mypoints.com .. 5000 mypoints transfer to 2500 UA miles. its not that difficult to earn these points
|
work for it!
Another thing you could do is ask your employer to pay you in points and miles. How? Well, if he/she has a lot of miles, have him/her book all your flights. If employer has points at hotel chains, rooms can often be booked as well.

pgary's site, http://www.freefrequentflyermiles.com has a comprehensive and (usually) up-to-date listing of pretty much any way you can get miles, for nothing or otherwise.

In the 8 or so years I have been familiar with Gary and his site from this and other forums, he has offered his ideas and information for free, and this is great. Many thanks to this. It carries forth much of the karma that surrounds and makes possible the world of mile and point sharing.
BUT, can ya'll imagine if he had somehow charged or received say, just 10 miles to use his site? Why, he'd have enough to circle the globe many times over! Just a thought. :D A note to the OP... you need to earn by all the means possible, not just one. Free miles, earned from flights, credit cards, and promos and even the schemas such as the coins from the US Mint. This is the best way to get there, where ever there may be. This forum is where people discuss and share ideas about the best and worst places to do business and how best to get your points. Good luck. :)MM |
Debit cards, too......:D

OP: from responses it seems that the question is: without traveling, hotels, renting cars, or paying money.

But why mix "credit cards" and "purchase links" as equivalent? There's a lot of difference between "not spending extra money" and plain "not spending any money". For example the US Mint (which has its own whole thread here in MilesBuzz): You have to spend money, but you get it all back (boxes of coins are shipped to you with you only paying for the face value of the coins, no shipping charges, and thus once you deposit the coins you've gotten back all the money you spent). And yet you earn miles from the purchase. Similarly, is switching from a credit card that gives you no rewards to a credit card that gives you miles really "spending extra money", if you simply make the same purchases you would have otherwise made? (Yes, such miles-earning cards usually have an annual fee, but often no annual the first year, and not necessarily any need to keep them into the second year, since for many people, the miles earned from ongoing purchases are dwarfed by the sign-up bonuses.) |

@Ant4fatony, signup for the new amazon payments system. Make sure you verify your email and bank account asap. Then, arrange a transfer partner (wife, sister, brother, friend) to also setup a amazon payments account (make sure they verify both email and bank account). After you both have your accounts setup you can send this person 1,000.00 per month. You receive 1000 miles on your mileage credit card, then that person withdraws the money and gives it back to you(very important). lol rinse and repeat (once a month)
As of today amazon is not charging the sender or receiver of these funds, but that could change anytime ... especially with people abusing the service by setting up multiple accounts. Word of advice, setup one account, stick to the 1,000 maximum per month, and you should be fine until amazon changes the terms of the deal or your credit card company closes your account :td: Easy 12,000 miles / yr |

FYI people are reporting amazon closing their account despite supposedly following the T&C.

To paraphrase an old Dire Straits song:
"miles for nothing, and chicks for free?" where do I sign up? |
no such thing as free miles, but
when airlines lose your bag (delta is a good example) for a signifigant amount of time, you can push them hard by claiming you'll go to another FF program. You may get miles out of it. I recently got 20k from Delta for this.
