No need to activate the card either. My 16 month old's card gave me 5k bonus today about 5 days after my statement closing date. I had used my card on my wife's account and the points posted about 4-5 days after her statement closing date too.

Nope - got the 5,000 bonus miles on three cards (myself, wife and mom) so another 15,000 miles added to the family account. Sweet!!! Extends the expiry date as well.

just to add another data point. the 5K bonus miles posted with this month's statement without having used the additional card.^

2nd statement posted and still no miles. I called last month and they said to wait.

Now they tell me they do not see the promo on the account. They asked for proof of the postcard - which I do not have.

They have to contact marketing to see if they will post the miles.

I hate fighting for the miles.

It took me 2 statements before the miles appeared for me,however,I ONLY added one user to my account.Is there a limit on how many users you can add to your account and get 5000 bonus miles?

The Terms & Conditions limit the promotion to a maximum of 5,000 miles. It won't do any good to add additional users beyond the first (additional) user.
