Just do Netflix and a couple of iDine, if you haven't done so, you'll be golden soon enough. Search UA and iDine Forums for current offers. Or do a little bit of shopping through UA retail Partners and Mileage Plus Mall. |

Have you checked all three of the credit agents?

I would like to add to those that get these form letters..... These are routine letters that banks now send out as protection layers for giving out to much credit to easily. If one has perfect credit with no reason in their decades of credit history to be rejected denied do as I did which is to call the bank and speak with the folks who denied you.
Of the few times I have ever been denied once they fully reviewed my history in all cases the card account was immediately opened and I threw away the silly form denial letter |
I got a Chase rejection and a Chase "apply for this card now!" offer on the same day. That was kind of fun.

Yes and no. There is a 6-month rule, but they will sometimes relax it with certain conditions. Late last year I applied for a Chase Continental MC, and sent a reconsideration request after being denied. Chase called me & mentioned the 6-mo rule, but offered to issue the CO MC if I closed the other Chase card I'd opened less than 6 months earlier. YMMV.
Thank you! |
You may want to look into Chase's United debit cards: you earn either 1 or half a mile per $1 spent.
You also earn 2500 miles with the first purchase. |
I applied for the Chase BA card in Nov and was denied. I called and they said I had too many recent credit card applications (not only to Chase but all that appeared on my credit check).
When I saw the offer was live again in January I threw in another application and was approved. Not sure how/why, but I don't need to know. So, not sure there are any hard and fast 6 month rules. |

Yeah, I think getting approved for cards from diff banks is easier... than applying for both of these from Chase. Am I incorrect in this assumption? I got the Chase BA card, the SPG AmEx, and the Citi AAdvantage cards all within a few weeks of each other already, and then applied for the Chase UM+ card and was denied b/c of too recent of a request (that was the reason in the letter).
With that in mind, I would say you're correct that applying to cards from different banks will be better than multiple with one (so for me, I'm definitely going outside Chase for the next one--probably Amex since I can use that at Costco). |

It's interesting how Chase apparently takes a rather hard line on the restrictions but then is willing to deal if you talk to a CSR about it. That seems to be a pattern with them that you can have decent luck appealing sometimes.
