I just accept it and move on.

So, what other addictions do we have? I'd like to play more Blackjack if I had the time/money for it. Also, I am a television junkie (thankfully I have access to a TiVo and iTunes, since of course I'm never home). Anyone want to confess theirs?

Not expecting this to be controversial at all. Wondering how you guys (and gals) deal with the addiction of this "hobby". I can't seem to take my mind away from all the mileage earning opportunities. Everything else seems to be taking a backseat. I was hoping 2010 would be a year focused on career progression (job search for a new/more exciting role) and even that seems to be taking a backseat :(

Not diminishing the importance of this "hobby", love it (my middle name should have been travel). Just wondering if I am alone in having to take a more proactive approach in balancing in my time

Something is an unhealthy addiction only if my wife doesn't like it.

My wife enjoys those J seats and hotel stays that I can get with my FF miles and hotel points. (In fact, this is the only way that I can afford to treat her in the style to which she would like to become accustomed.)

Bottom line: this is a healthy obsession. Good for my marriage. ^

Claiming to be addicted and you only have 18, 14, 69, 8 and 89 posts. This place must be MORE ADDICTIVE than Crack. Wait till your post counts get in to the thousands. :D:D

Or the 10s of thousands.

When I joined I just had a simple question about whether AC MLL or NZ KC is better at LAX (NZ KC being the answer). I was going to post it and go. That was 6 years ago.

Addicted? Who's addicted? I can stop anytime I want....I just don't want to? ;)

It's awesome

This stuff is just so much fun. I think it is a fanastic hobby! ^

^^

My problem was the getting status for the first time. DW didn't believe what I was telling her about the J seats.

I flew the entire family from CLT-DFW in F and then from DFW-FRA in J. A month later DW flew a TATL and I upgraded her to J RT. Paid cheap Y, upgraded with SWUs.

She has now drank the kool-aid and is looking forward to an award RTW in J.

Travel is much better for you than many other addictions.
(Can't wait to fly to London next weekend:D)

It always helps when you have a spouse who is a (point) whore, as well!

Funny story: I recently ran into another FTer in the DL lounge at BOS. He had his three kids with him, and the youngest asked how he knew me. He said it was because of FT. The youngest asked what that was, and the middle child said, "You know, it's that thing that he's on half his life."

It gets worse, not better.

This "addiction" actually produces value: travel benefits, which reduces your travel expenses. So in a sense, it's like a job. ;)

(stands up) Hello, my name is Glenn and I'm a mileage addict...:p

So true. It is a job, we try to get better all the time and also "earn" something tangible :-) Time invested certainly comes close to a proper desk job!

;) True, but then again, sometimes it takes a lifetime. Sometimes, one week is enough to know you're in it for life ;) Now that sounds like another movie (that has already been made) :D
