Longest consecutive travel?
What's the longest consecutive air travel you've done?
I recently did lhr-dfw-anc-dfw-jfk-yvr-hkg-nrt, starting Sunday 09/13 morning in LHR, arriving in NRT late afternoon Wednesday 09/16 (passed date line) 22909 miles in a row. Not getting outside any airport. Done more? |
i spent 48 hours w/o hotel coming back from cameroon in the 80's.....have spent 28 days on a ship, hnl-kix....good luck...
|
So is that without leaving an airport?
(I think that's what I'm reading here) My longest was part of a MR; fra-dfw-las-lax-bos-lax-bos. I left airside just long enough to clear customs at DFW. 14,531 miles.

I flew for 6 consective days 54,759 BIS miles basically no stops longer than 8 hours. About 101 hours on the plane roughly not counting delays sitting in the plane on the tarmac or at the gate.
dmm-shj-dxb-iad-lax-syd-sfo-syd-lax-den-bos-lax-iad-dxb-shj-dmm I did get 2 short time hotels for about 5 hours of sleep and showers. |
Sorry if unclear question, Consecutive travel, IMO, means no hotel or other non-airport stays; ie travelling, travelling and more travelling, not leaving airport.
What anybody did with hotel stays in between, may merit another thread. |

The longest I've been on was HKG-NRT-HKG-LHR-ACC-LHR-DXB (in F) over 3 days as part of a RTW ticket.
Also on that same RTW ticket I did AUS-DFW-LGA/JFK-SCL-LAX-JFK-SYD-CNS all in one go (actually I think that was longer) but I left the airport in SCL for the day. |
I have a trip coming up in October that I have pieced together. Leave Sat at 10am get back Sun at 7pm.
MKE-ORD-COS-DEN-LAX-SAN-IAD-HPN-IAD-CRW-ORD-MKE Not more than 3 hr layover at any stop, this will be my longest trip. |
My longest routings are
MAN-AMS-DTW-ANC-NRT-GUM-KIX-TPE ICN-HNL-MSP-DTW-ORD-DEL and my upcoming ICN-YVR-YEG-YYC-LAS-SEA-PDX-SEA-LAX/ONT-PDX-SEA-LAX-DTW/YQG-YYZ-YWG-YVR-NRT/HND-GMP. |
Many people did a routing like this on NW years back. Mine took 4 days with never leaving the airport. Did this twice in the same month at 30842 BIS miles a pop without counting the 500 mile minimum.

20k + miles is fairly common for me.
Here are some of the longer (distances from GCM) sequences I've flown - excluding those under 25k miles (which thus excludes the around the world in under 60 hours). 39864 miles flown including inaugural worlds longest flight each way with some other FTers and followed up by 7 crazy days 35529 flown miles 32985 flown miles - first part of this report 29470 miles flown - a medley of SQ new F, new J and old J 28240 miles flown - part of oneworld revolutions 28050 miles flown as part of big Do Dos month of madness 27443 miles flown 27223 miles flown 146k flown miles in 29 days which had maximum spells without leaving the airport of 25k, 23k, 23k and 20k - all within the same month (and maximum time out of airports of half a day). |

contest?
hmmm, I smell the makings of a contest. I can imagine some interesting "prizes" (gift cards for chiropractor, for instance)
|
Planning a MSP-STL-EWR-LAX-ORD-PVG run in less than a month. Yeah, I know, less than 14k miles, but these are all consecutive flights and the longest time between flights is 5 hours.

I've had a few:
During United's 2004 European bonus miles days I did: PHX-ORD-LHR-JFK-SFO-LAX-IAD-FRA-LHR-SFO-LAX-PHX between February 20-23. Only break was for seven hours in Los Angeles at the LAX Mariott. Then last year I did as a continous trip: September 18: PHX-CLT (redeye) September 19: CLT-DTW September 20: DTW-BWI September 21: BWI-DTW, DTW-ORD-DEN-PHX September 22: PHX-CLE By the time I got to Cleveland I had no idea where I was or what time it was supposed to be. |
