Connection time in NRT

Hi all.

If this should be placed in a general discussion thread, then I understand but my question is very specific.

I'm doing a mileage run with almost no turn around time. My route is:

ATL-DTW-NRT-SIN
SIN-NRT-DTW-ATL

With just 6 hours in SIN before arrival and heading back, I don't have any room for missing connections. The one connection I could potentially miss would be in NRT. I have 80 minutes between landing and takeoff of my next flight. Does anyone have any advice on how to prepare? I've looked up this flight on Flight Aware (https://flightaware.com/live/flight/DAL275) and it looks like it runs behind a decent amount of the time. Once I land in NRT should it be fast to get to another gate or will I have to go through another round of passport checking? Any help is appreciated!

In Narita, you will need to pass through security screening after landing. They are really efficient at Narita. You shouldn't have any worries with 80 minute connection.

Check out this thread: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/japan-509/ It is very helpful for all things Japan and NRT.

I concur with canuck_traveler about the efficiency at NRT. Flight delays notwithstanding, you shouldn't have an issue. Just be ready to move swiftly and walk around crowds. During a LAX-NRT-SIN round trip MR in Sept, it took me about 30min to deplane, get my new boarding pass, clear thru transit security and find the lounge. They are also extremely efficient with boarding so expect them to start exactly (like, to the second) at the time they state.
