Just snagged SFO-AKL on the NZ nonstop for $396 on ua.com -- seemed to be disappearing so I bought it. Now only seeing $796 for Google Flights-- and $1001 on ua.com
Thanks OP!

Great catch! Just booked a couple for myself. One in February and the other in April. Prices have gone up a bit for SFO - AKL but still a bargain. Smaller hubs are of course still very cheap.

Dead? I managed to book 5 RT's SEA-AKL for Mrs Huge's birthday, but whole months of prices look like they've gone up to $800+ on Matrix & on United, just in the last 15 minutes

I haven't had any luck finding a ticket (out of midwest) since half an hour ago. Google flight was showing 600 in search result but upon selecting the flights it all went up to 1000+

So I've decided I'm keeping our family's April SFO-AKL tickets, even though we're going to NZ in December. I wouldn't mind protecting downside risk, in case my wife or I am not able to take the time off in April. I was looking into "Cancel for any reason" travel insurance policies through insuremytrip; I can supposedly get "75% of non-refundable trip cost" refunded if I purchase a policy. Any experience with this? Would they really pay out 75% of the $395/person fare?
