[FARE GONE] Aa: Lax/sfo-akl $212 rt

Fly the 787 LAX or SFO to AKL. Seems like a 7 day minimum stay. Cheap O Air or Momonodo is a good place to look. Available throughout the summer and fall.

Example August 5-14

sinus Apr 12, 2016 1:54 am

Books into O class. Plenty of availability but looks like OTA glitch.

Single_Flyer Apr 12, 2016 2:00 am

I booked a couple of RT and already got ticketed (have e-ticket number). Chose my seats on aa website. We'll see if it sticks. It's on a lot of OTAs including Orbitz for a bit more.

xiaorandejavu Apr 12, 2016 2:01 am

cheapO allow 4 hour free cancellation?

bork Apr 12, 2016 2:05 am

Were you able to get this on AA flight numbers? I can see prices down to ~$210 but only for Qantas marketed versions of AA

hnl808 Apr 12, 2016 2:10 am

Looking on Qantas.com and the fare is showing as $183 each way. Not as cheap as $212 rt, but still a great deal!

snabbu Apr 12, 2016 2:14 am

Shame it doesn't seem to work in reverse :(

Maybe it's just a really good deal to celebrate the launch of AA LAX-AKL.

Low fuel costs. Empty planes. I could see this being on purpose.

hnl808 Apr 12, 2016 2:22 am

AA.com is not showing any fares below $896 RT. So maybe this is either a glitch on the QF side or QF is offering a really good fare sale.

This is a self dump, we can definitely see the effect of low oil prices but this is way too cheap.

delta spartan Apr 12, 2016 2:26 am

Just got one for september, looks like a 7 day min stay or atleast a Sunday stay. Also can get a nice 15 hr layover in melbourne on the way there.

The airline has to allow free 24-hour cancel per DOT, but Cheapo can charge a service fee to perform the cancellation. If you make enough noise and/or if it is really an error fare, then you can usually get the service fee waived.

There are some slightly more reputable OTAs in the ~$350 range, you'll have a better chance of keeping the rez and/or canceling for free with them.

wijomas Apr 12, 2016 2:42 am

Thanks OP, booked the in-laws to come visit us! :)^

maxvor Apr 12, 2016 2:48 am

No stopovers allowed, but you can do OJ to Aussie on inbound/outbound

billybligh Apr 12, 2016 2:49 am

Booked akl summertime. Early december. Used cheapo. Kinda wished id spent a few extra at travelocity.

Good luck all.

danielm Apr 12, 2016 2:51 am

Is there a way to find the booking class on Cheapo? On ITA, my itin seems to be coming out in N, but not sure what that's worth.

rinipiyan Apr 12, 2016 3:00 am

Couldn't get AA to price, shouldn't this thread be labelled [QF] instead of [AA]?

x9bull Apr 12, 2016 3:08 am

booked for 225 pp on cheapoair for mid aug..

MNSWEEps Apr 12, 2016 3:11 am

Booked 3 tickets for Thanksgiving (Nov 18 - 27) for $275 each return.

Never traveled Qantas before but they charge you for seat selection? I see $30 AUD for each leg :td:

rinipiyan Apr 12, 2016 3:12 am

Nov 1-18 LAX-AKL-SYD-LAX

$220 on CheapO
788 from LAX-AKL
A388 from SYD-LAX

Doc Savage Apr 12, 2016 3:14 am

Got Qantas from SFO.

Thanks, OP!

And got my ticket number.

danpeake Apr 12, 2016 3:14 am

There's a gap in Oct. I'd like to travel Oct 14-27 but of course those dates aren't coming up unless I'm missing something. Anyone seeing something or can help?

Great fare though. Thanks OP.

exphose Apr 12, 2016 3:19 am

SFO AKL Booked into O on exploretrip, appears best credit is to AS MP for 100% miles flown, which is worth more than the cost of the flight.

Unless I'm not seeing straight because it's late.

DBCme Apr 12, 2016 3:20 am

Works from SFO via SYD as well

Palal Apr 12, 2016 3:21 am

Shows up on orbitz for a bit more $$

x9bull Apr 12, 2016 3:58 am

I ended up changing my booking to fly from LAX so that i can get to fly the AA 787, although marketed by QF, I was still able to at least get a MCE seat for free...

theacendahole Apr 12, 2016 3:59 am

DO NOT CALL! Try another credit card. PLEASE DO NOT CALL!

That's how these things end for good.

agree. This has got to do with your CC and nothing to do with the deal itself..

Of course I would not call. Did nothing and ticket # and charge came through about 10 mins later.

Anywhere with 24 hour refund to book, instead of Cheap 4 hour policy?

dordal Apr 12, 2016 4:40 am

Unless I'm not thinking straight at this early hour, no way to get around the 7 day min stay right?

Trying to figure out how I could nest two of these but doesn't seem to work in reverse so not sure that's possible.
