Talking Syntax on thread titles for MRs?

Hi!

A question that I've been having since I joined FT... Why don't we set a guideline for titles on new threads? I was thinking something like
Code:
XX: AAA-BBB-CCC-DDD $YYY
Where
XX is a two-letter airline code, or two-character alliance code
AAA/BBB/CCC/DDD is the airport IATA code minus the country letter
- (dash) separates origin/layover/stopover/destinations
/ (slash) separates city pairs
(space) separates open jaws
$YYY is the price in USD as an integer

Do you guys think this would be useful?

Yes I think it would be useful but we can't even get people to stop posting questions or problems in MR deals so what makes you think people will follow a syntax to thread titles?

We could add it to the wiki + mods can be editing titles (I totally would, I visit this daily, based off a script I made, and I'm converting the titles based off posters to that syntax)

There's already this note in the http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/milea...rums-work.html sticky post at the top of the MR forum:

if everyone included that info in the title I don't think it matters as much the exact order those components appear in.

There's no forum-level wiki. Also, it seems most people don't read wikis or stickies anyway.

Exactly.

Don't get me wrong, if this happened it would greatly satisfy my OCD, but good luck with it

Take a look at this tiny-tool I've created (work in progress): --deleted for the sake of our future trips--

So far the "hardest" problem seems to be when a thread includes an airline promotion, because that's likely to be a many airports to many airports relationship.

Is it a good idea? Sure.. but try and find the thread we had regarding formalizing the REQUEST/HELP section in here.. it's been lost in the MR Discussion.

You've built a bot/script to read the MR Deals forum? Haven't you seen Terminator? This is where your AI is headed!!

But seriously, keeping it informal actually makes it a liiiittle better for the frequent visitor as great deals disappear very quickly and it pays to be checking back. Think blogs pick things up quickly now? Just wait til OP sells them all his script! (Extreme case obviously)

You're right. Just removed my link. I'd like to keep promoting FT. In a nicer way for our eyes. I started a month ago and I've over 100 posts already. I'm ....ing addicted. I bet more people would become involved if it was prettier / easier to read.
