Is the fare being honored? For all carriers? Yes, and yes, so far it seems we have EY, EK, QR and BA segments that seem to have worked fine.
Can I make changes to my ticket before I fly the first segment? There haven't been any reports of this yet. While technically you should be able to make changes to other than the first segment prior to flying, it's unlikely you'll get an agent to do that. If you booked through a travel agent, your agent may be able to do this. If you booked through an online OTA, it's unlikely. But give it a try and report back.
Can I make changes once I have flown the first segment? There is at least one report from a FT member that they checked with a BA agent in London about changing routing and moving to the LHR-LAX A380 and that member didn't get any resistance or any indication there would be any amount collected (this FT member ultimately didn't make the change so the ticket wasn't actually reissued). From all reports, BA hasn't done anything to mark these fares, so being what they are (fully flex F), you should be able to make changes in LHR, even rerouting and your transAtl segment and adding additional segments within the US on AA, assuming there is space at the last minute.

Depends on if they're AA coded or BA coded and whether you have elite status or not. Also depends on what program you credit to - below are the numbers for AAdvantage.
Base Miles:
DXB-LHR - 3421
LHR-LAX - 5456
LAX-AUS - 1242
BA Coded Flights get you:
DXB-LHR
EQM = 3421
EQP = 5131
RDM = 5131 (non Elite), 6842 (AA Gold), 8552 (AA Plat and EXP)
LHR-LAX
EQM = 5456
EQP = 8184
RDM = 8184 (non Elite), 10912 (AA Gold), 13640 (AA Plat and EXP)
LAX-AUS
EQM = 1242
EQP = 1863
RDM = 1863 (non Elite), 2484 (AA Gold), 3105 (AA Plat and EXP)
AA Coded Flights get you (assuming you take the flights are 5/15/2015):
DXB-LHR
EQM = 3421
EQP = 6842 (booked in A), 10263 (booked in F)
RDM = 11131 (non Elite), 12842 (AA Gold), 14552 (AA Plat), 20552 (AA EXP)
LHR-LAX
EQM = 5456
EQP = 10912 (booked in A), 16368 (booked in F)
RDM = 14184 (non Elite), 16912 (AA Gold), 19640 (AA Plat), 25640 (AA EXP)
LAX-AUS
EQM = 1242
EQP = 2484 (booked in A), 3726 (booked in F)
RDM = 2363 (non Elite), 2984 (AA Gold), 4005 (AA Plat), 4105 (AA EXP)
This is a very quick estimate so there might be errors in it. I recommend you double check the calculations before taking them as accurate I can't recall if the fare books into A or F fare buckets so for the AA coded flights I've given both numbers as a guide. I've also assumed you're flying on either a BA or AA operated flight.

This is essentially what I did. My tickets were booked using orbitz, and a BA agent in the lounge in LHR was able to make the changes I wanted.

I spent 1.5 hours on the phone with orbitz and they called 2 ba reps (located in India) and they wanted to reprice the ticket to current fares. Their reasoning is I paid for a specific origin/destination and the aa schedule change is irrelevant as the new flights have the same origin and destination.
I am going to try calling back later when the US BA call center is open.

It looks like BA has come to their senses and decided to stop messing with the QF/EK codeshares. I was getting ready to spend my rainy holiday Monday trying to get my cancelled flight reinstated but lo and behold it was back there without any intervention.
Special thanks to those that pushed this issue and in turn made BA realize that it made more sense to just honour the fare for the dozens(?) of people who managed to find this routing.

Many moons ago, my LHR-LAX segment was cancelled. I called BA and had them put the segment back in. The agent said there was a note on the file saying that the connection time was too short but he said that there was clearly enough time so he was unsure why that was there. A week or two later the segment was dropped again and I just let it rest figuring that I would wait until someone flew that routing to see what happened.
I was going to follow up yesterday but when I pulled up the itin I was surprised to see that the cancelled segment had been reinstated. So, long story short, if the LHR-LAX segment does not have any ugly red letters beside it saying that it is cancelled she should be good to go.
Hope that clears things up for you.

Hmm, by nothing has changed do you mean that all segments are confirmed when you look at it?

BA269 was completely full today and oversold in Y, so I flew my original LHR-JFK flight and am now on flight to LAX.
That QR A380 is a very nice ride. Going to the BA 747 is a major step down. Oh well, the JW Blue on BA helped ease the suffering.

Was the QR flight full in F? Only two people in my cabin when I flew in June. It's a very nice ride indeed, but there was the odd surprising (and unprofessional) touch - e.g., placing a full lunch order before the FA returned to tell me she'd given me the wrong menu. I'll post a trip report after my second trip this month.

I was supposed to be on AA17 to AUS this morning, but it's delayed from 6:25am to 10:00am and I doubt that stands. Called AA to see what my options were and the agent suggested I try to get a refund for that leg. I had to tell her there wouldn't be a refund unfortunately. I wanted to leave it open for later or get routing credit but those weren't possible. Just canceled. Oh well, I wasn't planning on actually taking the flight anyway.
I was champagned out after all the Krug courtesy of QR.
Only 3/8 on my flight. Business looked fairly full though; I only saw a couple empty seats on the way to the bar.
Did QR greet you in DOH when you arrived from DXB? I had someone waiting for me and she cut me through the transit screening and then walked me to the lounge.

AA flights changed to economy..
Hello everyone,
I received an email from travel agent (big O) saying that there's change in flight. When I looking into it, I found that the AA flights (LAX-JFK and JKF-AUS) were changed from First to Economy. Anyone has similar issue? What could I do? Thank you very much!
Regards.
